Wonderful hat, Bill. You have so many cool ones.It didn’t reach the 90s today. So I pull out a vintage green Champ.

Have a fine Thursday,
Michael
I now believe it's also the difference in the color with the hat being a lighter color than the ribbon. The ribbon on the Stetson blends into the hat color. "and that's the rest of the story" .
That's a nice one for any occasion, Mike.Even though it will be warm this afternoon, I went with the classic Portis "the New Slant" from the mid to late 50s today. Meeting across campus, this should be a nice hat for the walk.

Cool hat, Max. Sometimes there's nothing for it but to replace the ribbon. They tend not to clean up after a certain point. My new Whippet. I brushed, cleaned, and steamed it, but the ribbon is discolored. I will have to replace it, I guess.

Whatever the colour is: I like it.Back to school. Capturing the colors of this hat is a tough homework assignment. Think a hat to wear with scrubs.
It's actually a Federation IV Deluxe and I've been forming the crown to my liking. I honestly think it's the contrast colors of the hat and the ribbon that gives it the belief it sit's high on the head. I can see the taper difference still applies to the Federation. The crown on your Stetson ( did you say Chatham?) is undoubtedly more tapered than your Camp Draft. The CD has a tall, straight crown. Keep wearing it most of us have come to prefer that.

You are correct and that is the reason, no taper, for it looking like a stovepipe on my head. The crown on your Stetson ( did you say Chatham?) is undoubtedly more tapered than your Camp Draft. The CD has a tall, straight crown. Keep wearing it most of us have come to prefer that.

Not quite Inspector Clouseau, but a really nice hat anyway. Do you have a trench coat to go with it?Manstyle glen plaid fedora with chocolate brown felt band. "Manstyle" was the men's brand for Belk Department stores in the southeast until sometime in the 1980s. Still hot here but it's after Labor Day so I have to start weening off the straws.

some is Vargas and some are George Petty. both are my two favorite pinup artists! I have an extensive collection of period calendar sheets and artist's proofs. the proofs are the sheets that weren't folded and stapled into Esquire and True Magazines nor did they have printing on the reverse side. these were typically sent to the boys overseas where they were taped, pinned or stapled to walls or folded up into their pockets so very few exist today in perfect condition but I was able to find a few of those. Is all the art work Vargas?

thanks! its in really great condition. the shearling is getting a touch thin in some areas that sit snug on the head but its still all there anyway. I have a Bancroft Flighter Crusher and a lesser known company crusher as well but they are just for display. don't want to wear those out as I might get strange looks! lol!Very impressive Edward, I would love to see more of your collection. That B-2 cap is really something special. What do the insides look like? Tags?
You can't beat that: longhair finish and gills too. Gorgeous.Mayser "Torry" possibly later 1950s.
