Nice!
Thanks Terry... I enjoyed the nutria you are working on too.
Nice!
Yup! If I had four thumbs I would give that hat a four thumbs up approval! Since I don't, I'll crack open a cold one and drink a beer in its honor!Actually cool here with the breeze, so I grabbed the pecan NW Hats fedora to go grocery shopping, then walked out without my keys. Chilling in the garden, waiting for some keys...

Thank you Alan. Just needs a little more tweaking. Thanks Terry... I enjoyed the nutria you are working on too.
A lot of nice felt there! What a great score! Came out of that one smelling like a rose [emoji2].Just a quick wearing to confirm fit. Both need a little tweaking to the brim, but I’ll probably leave the creases as is (for now).

Selfies can be improved (although I don't see anything wrong), but the hats won't get much better than that!View attachment 134149 View attachment 134147 View attachment 134148 View attachment 134146
Felt in the summer? Absolutely, I was getting bored of straw. Here's pics of the young lounger that has weak selfie game (Justin has me beat). Mallory Ten today. Hope everyone's recovered from labor day weekend! Lord give us the cool fall weather soon..

Another fine hat, Steve. Colours, shape and proportions are all spot on.Mayser "Spezial" possibly mid 1950s.
Our warm days are headed downward... 88, 84, then 70s and some rain in the forecast. So, more straw while we can! (Although it is quite cool in the morning now).
Beater modern parabuntal with a poly fleece jacket? Sure!

Showpiece Alan. Love that liner.A wee window of warmth remains. I am all over it.
Looks good to me, Terry. Somehow it's kind of reassuring that it's not all plain sailing with these conversions (makes you human - and not a wizard- after all). Here's the Stetson Nutria I was working on. I'm not doing anything special with it. Just sizing it up. A buddy of mine gave it to me a couple a couple of years ago. I'm not exactly happy with the way it turned out. The hat is soft felt plus the brim has a weak spot in the back which made it hard to work with. It's an old faded out tan hat, probably late '40s to very early '50s. The brim also made the ribbon difficult to work with as well. I actually had to reblock this thing twice, and reflange it three times. I'm going to buy some hat stiffener and apply it to the brim and see if that will give it some support. I still have some tweaking to do on it. It's very similar looking to the Resistol Tan Bark longhair I did a few weeks ago, only lighter in color. Once I get everything tweaked up I think I can get it pretty much taken care of, aside from some of the weaknesses in the felt. It'll still have plenty of life when I'm finished. Tall straight crown, 2 3/4 brim, and an 1 1/2 contrasting ribbon
Two light colored beauties Bob. You can see how nice the felt is even in a photograph of that Rand.Just a quick wearing to confirm fit. Both need a little tweaking to the brim, but I’ll probably leave the creases as is (for now).

Thanks, Terry. I just smoked some brats on the Traeger grill. That would go well with a brewski, no?Yup! If I had four thumbs I would give that hat a four thumbs up approval! Since I don't, I'll crack open a cold one and drink a beer in its honor!
Yesss! I like that profile.A side view of the Nutria for another perspective on the proportions of the hat...
