...We are cruising out of Florida in August for 9 days up the eastern coast into canada / newfoundland. Can't decide which hats to take. In the past I just wore baseball caps due to sudden wind gusts on the ship....I hate to see one of my nice hats sailing off without me. :)
Smart choice. When we took our Alaskan cruise in July of 2011 I brought a brimmed tarp hat because they advised us we might encounter some rain. Great during the land excursions, but on the upper decks at sea the winds kept trying to take it from me. I found a knit watch cap in one of the tourist shops, and that solved the problem.

Cool morning, warmer afternoon. This calls for felt in the a.m. and straw for the p.m. The Cavanagh Homburg has been sitting in a back room taking fresh air to get out some noxious odors and it's become wearable. It's about time. It's been sitting alone too long. A very nice hat with great felt, a clean center dent without pinches, and a half blind stitch on the brim blinding.

I held off getting Homburgs for awhile. Now I have 3, a Cavanagh in grey, a Cavanagh in black and a Stetson St Regis in a light-to-medium brown that I like a lot even though it's not in as good shape as the two Cavanagh Homburgs.

I think you'd look great in a Homburg, and thought so when you posted the wonderful pictures of your daughter's graduation celebration.

Generally considered a dress hat to go with suits/ties and better, I have - as seen here today - worn Hommies with very casual, comfortable clothes also.

Took the wife to the bone doc today. She won't need surgery, it is mending well already. They did put on a new full length cast (they call it a sugar tong style (??). The cruise is still on! Wore a Dobbs two tone poly of some type. The pug came with the hat, not bad, but looks a little tight. Good ventilation.

Great! That surgery is expensive and unpleasant. Mine was done in Chicago under local anesthetic because I was travelling to Acapulco later the same day, and I wouldn't have been allowed on the plane if it had been done under general anesthetic.
I could feel the vibration of the drill from my wrist bones all the way to my upper humerus. Uggghhh! It did, however, mend very quickly. I was back at work in three weeks.
I was insured for the surgery, but not the lack of revenue.

Surgery and Acapulco in the same day, wow. She will be a little hobbled by the cast/splint, but she is adapting well. She gets a wrist brace when we get back.

Early morning to all. Wearing a Stetson Casual this morning.

This vintage Stetson Casual fedora was inexpensive the year it was sold. What a glorious hat. Quality made with interesting dimensions. Price does not always equate with quality. The ribbon treatment is very interesting to my eye. A glorious vintage hat for a very early morning.
