This type of thread has worked well in other places, and I think would be a nice addition here. I'll kick things off.

I’ve been wearing one of my favorite “stingy brims” the Dobbs Dayton.

Wearing my new hat by Miss Esther Weis to see John Anderson in concert this rainy evening. After a lifetime of cheaper wool hats that have served me well outdoors in all weather, and one recent Akubra purchase, this is my first "nice" hat. The color is more brown than it looks in these pictures, and the ribbon has more contrast:

It's hard to get a hat to look the way I want on my 7-3/4 jug head, but Miss Esther was great to work with! I sure do appreciate her patience and the lengths she went to to make sure I got the hat I wanted.

Y'all take care,
Regan
A beautiful hat, Regan. Is that the melange felt?

Awesome choice! Hope the tasking improves
Thanks Justin.

Here is a starting point anyway:

"On Saturday, September 28, 1946, a U.S. federal trademark registration was filed for RANCHCRAFT by J.C. PENNEY COMPANY, INC, NEW YORK, NY 10019."

Thanks for the info Bob. I sort of figured it to be a 60s or 70s hat, but not for any real reason.

Cool derby, Michael!

Thanks Serge. I don't wear my derbies enough.

Lovely shape on that old Derby. Sweat texture grabs my attention. Vents!
Thanks Red. Yes, they seem to have textured the leather somehow.

Excellent parade of hats the last few days from everyone. Don't have time to comment on each one (it's been a bit busy and still is). I did manage to get a few headshots of myself though.

Borsalino Petrol wednesday (sorry for the look; it was still very early)

Today I had to try on a new addition: a sombrero cordobes (had to live up to my avatar picture). Brand name is Viumar. Still needs a brushing I see.

A plethora of fine hats. Have you rented a warehouse yet to store them all?

Thanks for all the likes and comments. I've been falling behind on the forum.

Excellent look, Regan. Welcome to the lounge and once you start on the patch of quality hats there's no going back:)

Looks great on you.

It looks great as all of her hats do. You wear it well.
Brent

Looks really good on you. Nice crown height.

That hat looks Super on you Regan!

Thanks, everyone, for the kind remarks. Working in the woods and in construction most of my life I've favored low crowns for their practicality. The high crown on this one is a literal "tip of the hat" to my hillbilly ancestry; based on old photos it appears most of the gentlemen in this part of the country favored taller crowns for both work and "Sunday" hats. I've seen lots of photos on this board and elsewhere that portray men in bib overalls, some type of "dress" jacket or coat, and a brimmed hat - that was common dress even for church services here for many years.

A peaceful Sunday to everyone!

Thank you sir, I appreciate it, but of course the credit goes to Miss Esther. The felt is a lighter rabbit (or maybe hare?) felt in taupe color; for some reason it looks much more gray and textured in the photos than it is in real life. It has a very smooth (but not slick or shiny) finish, and is very soft.

Take care!
Regan

Hi Regan,

I know the felt. This is the same taupe felt.
Lighting makes it look more brown.
