You know it will be a good evening when you show up with your electric keyboard to a small town theater, and are surprised by a well maintained Steinway grand! Disturbingly few venues anywhere around have pianos anymore.
So here’s a delectable pairing of Stetson and Steinway.

I just love the images of your adventures Fabio. The hat looks great in it's natural habitat.

Nice soft diamond, makes the felt look so soft and supple. Classic look Jim.

I'm sure that you made that classic piano sing Jeff. Really a nice look in that Hommie.

Lovely Stetson on a lovely Sunday Michael. I like the ribbon, it is just right for that hat.

Quick bunch of errands before my nap. I need a nap. I deserve a nap. I really need a nap... Older, probably early 1960s Dobbs Milan. This one is sooo smooth and flexible. Other than the color, a duplicate of James Bond's golf hat in Goldfinger (1964). I'm not as cool as Sean though.

Your pretty cool, Red! Don’t sell yourself short. I agree those Dobbs Milan hats are great. Love the ribbon on that one.

I have come to the realization that I don't have enough black hats to make it through a 4 week run of our show un-repeated, have to remedy that. So, for last night I trotted out the Italian Rat Gondin. This 1960s Barbisio came to me via Daniele last year. It is much darker than the flash creates, so it worked with my stage blacks. The Nutria felt is quite smooth and light, for a 60s hat, remarkable.

For today's matinee, even though it will be in the mid 80s, I'm sporting a more formal homburg. My Knox Premier, 1950s classic black Homburg. This one is an early addiction purchase, came with a rather tattered liner, not even a Knox logo remaining. I had Mike Miller add one of his NW Hats liners, because I thought it was colorful and showy. I would love to find a vintage Knox liner someday.

Thanks Red. It's a great hat, though sadly the sweat is tattered beyond repair. Replacing it is on my ever growing to do list.

Thanks Jeff. I've been liking the downturn brim lately. Oddly, mostly for grey Stetsons. Ha ha. I've been watching a few '30s movies and it seems it was pretty popular then and I like the look of it.
Great homburg and Steinway grand photos. In another lifetime I worked up the tax returns for a little old lady and her charitable donations consisted of giving a Steinway grand to some small college or theater venue every year or two.

A great ride except for the couple of times I went down on the muddy trail. Ha ha. Found a fantastic flush of golden oyster mushrooms that should be ready to pick tomorrow or the next day. I will be returning to that spot.

Thanks,
Michael

That's different, Michael. Instead of brim up it's brim down. Great hat either way.

Stellar pair of homburgs, Mike. I really don't have enough nutria hats. Must work on that.:)

Hey everyone,

Hopefully I'm not being too presumptuous here, but I thought I'd take a moment to let everyone know about a--hopefully--useful thread to the community.

Crown Height Reference for Smaller Heads

I made this thread as a sort of reference point for anyone who shares similar head measurements to my own. On this thread, I've proposed a specific format: post a picture of yourself wearing your favorites fedora(s), and write down the measurements of the hat(s) in the photo(s) (crown height, brim width, band width).

I'm hoping we can also make a similar threads, each being from a specific size to a specific size (example sizes 6-7). Obviously this will increase the threads, but think of how amazing of a resource this will be for everyone, especially new members getting into felt hats!

It's really hard to find any resources containing this kind of info, much less in one contained area.

Anyway, if you're a size 7 or thereabout, get on that thread and post!

Cheers
