Thanks Mike. I have no idea how to date this hat. I’m not a big pork pie fan, but this diminutive straw is very wearable and can even be worn while I’m driving.

Hi All, For today it's my Stetson mystery Sovereign in tawny.

I think most of us have these mystery hats.

I can’t seem to pull off the brim up look but you wear it as well as Bob Roberts and that’s high praise.

Thanks. I don't really have a name for it. The top is a diamond, the top front is tight, and the sides have more severe than usual diagonal creases.

All of this only works well, imho, on a fedora with a fairly full crown.

Now I am debating with myself whether or not to trim the dimensional brim down to 2 1/2 inches all around. I don't like doing non-reversible things when I'm not 100% sure.

I wouldn't change a thing.

It's only a Pork Pie if you wear it with the brim up all the way 'round. With the front of the brim snapped down it's a Trilby with a Telescope crease.

I do agree that a pork pie needs to be worn with the brim up; it’s a hard look for me to pull off. I’ve passed on some pristine vintage porkers.

Will do. Seems like every 1/8 inch you go up from 7 1/4 reduces the vintage hat selection by an order of magnitude.

Land Grant institution, I approve. Looked up the history and their first building pre-dates my college's by a few years. SDU was founded in 1881, Oregon State in 1868. I'm just that kind of geek to look it up.
