I'm holidaying in california for July, might scrape my face hair off till then, yeh I feel utterly ridiculous, maybe like someone wearing a fake beard, and damn cold. I usually just trim it right back, but you inspired me (-: I preferred when they called it global warming but a white easter here is currently even odds in the bookmakers, and I've had a tan at this time of year.
I feel kind of guilty that I inspired you to commit beardicide. But, the look does suit you.

Yeah... I always feel a bit dorky for the first couple days of facial nakeditity But I try to remind myself that I'm always dorky. That helps. ;-)

Where are you going in California?
I am despondent.

Opening Day. Cancelled. No baseball. No Reds.

It's raining. Dark. Overcast. There's no baseball until tomorrow. Blech.

So I laugh in the face of TAR Thursday with this Moss Green Gannon.

I'd wish everybody a happy Holy Thursday, but this is a tragedy of immense proportions. Perhaps I should buy a hat to cheer myself up.

It's gonna be alright, Jim. Time... time (and that fantastic Gannon) hopefully will heal your wound.

No reason except, my brother in law runs a university there in claremont and my sister in law is a headmistress... of a school guys, pipe down. I don't fly well but there's now a direct flight to LA so no excuses and they are forever visiting us. It'll be my first and possibly only time in the states so really looking forward to it, with sister in law babysitting planning to take in Vegas and San Fran maybe Joshua Tree, my wife has a graw for that. I have an old friend in San Diego, might leave him alone, might contact.

Thank you for your likes and I regret not being able to answer you, but I was put KO, temporarily, from a seasonal illness

Today first day of free exit with Tirard Ragonda to continue the French series in black
161bbqc.jpg

The hat is very well finished and Tirard Freres was the first of the big French brands to close in the 50s

The felt is very malleable and "buttery" and the finishes of the first class

The brims are edged in black, in short, a black on black for a classic of elegance for occasions that are worth a dress suitable for the occasion, at least in Europe :)

I'm wearing my first homburg, today. Premier Vita-Felt.

It's got this white spot on the crown from when someone must have spilled a drop of some bleaching substance on it. Unreasonable creature that I am, that little spot drives me bonkers. Oh well...

Have a beautiful day.

A classic Matt. I know about those little imperfections, that is all you see. Just like a scratch on your car from 20 feet away. My Mallory XV has a moth crater that drives me nuts too. But you have to know...all everyone else sees is a magnificent homburg!

You look like you are feeling better Daniele. Maybe it is the beautiful French hat, good medicine for what ails you.

Off for the weekly grocery shop soon. Need anything from the store Karl?

Have a good one,
Michael

I like the color of your Dallas, Michael. Is the brim very stiff on yours?

I understand your grief. Opening Day should be a National Holiday in my opinion. My Royals open today, can't wait!! :)

The Dallas is so nice. I dig the coat, cool pockets. What pin is on the lapel?
Thanks Red. I too like the pockets on the coat. It's a very handy bicycling and day tripping coat with all of the pocket space. The pin came with it.

Thanks Jim. I would say not at all stiff, nor yet floppy either. I think it has to be the thinnest felt of any brim I have. Feels like it's about 1/64th inch. The crown actually feels much thicker, but also softer.

While I was out shopping today a guy asked me if I was wearing an Open Road. He had on a nice looking thin ribbon too, so I asked him if he was after saying mine was a The Dallas. He said his was a Royal Stetson. He thought that was the model name. It was in very nice shape inside and out, except that the sweatband hat dry rotted and was missing the two parts where the model might have been stamped. I think it might have been a Stratoliner, but could have been an OR too. Or something else. It as a nice fairly dark brown hat in any case, and he was wearing it with style.

Thanks all,
Michael
