That is stunning Daniele. A great example of fine Italian craftsmanshipIn this swing of the weather that has snowed two days and then it rains uninterruptedly it is difficult to wear hats
I inaugurate March with the last Borsalino purchased
Sold in Turin in the late forties or early fifties it has arrived in excellent condition until now
Color is "Bronzo" and the type is "Faunosca" color of the ribbon is matching
Proportions are: brim at 7 cm. and low point of the crown at 11 cm.
Have anice Monday!
Do you remember which antique market?By Matt's (@mmbarnes) request, my first vintage find. Picked this up at a Ft. Worth antique market on a business trip there. Disney Twenty with a Cavanagh edge, originally sold at Washer Brothers.
And because I know Red demands it, the back bow.
Happy Monday all.

Thanks Zombie. How much difference is there between the Imperial and the Heritage felt quality?Oh, well allow me to point you in the right direction:
Imperial Quality
Heritage Quality
Don't bother looking anywhere else; they're a Hats Direct/The Hattery exclusive.
About $32. But seriously, the appearance and "finish" between the two is pretty much the same--same shape, same dimensions, visible tacks holding the ribbon to the crown. The sweatband on the Heritage Quality is a little softer and a little wider (about 1/8") than on the Imperial Quality, but unless someone is a real hat aficionado they probably wouldn't notice. Their Heritage Quality felt, while not thicker than the Imperial Quality, does feel more substantial/denser; not a quality that can be attributed to the amount of stiffener used (which, as anyone familiar with Akubra hats knows, can vary wildly from hat to hat). Otherwise, both felts feel pretty much the same to me. All things being equal, I'd guess a Heritage Quality hat would outlast an Imperial Quality hat; whether or not that's worth the extra $32 is up to the buyer/wearer.Thanks Zombie. Knox Superfine from the 1940s.
The hat belonged to Brigadier General Jerome J. Waters, Jr. Waters served in World War I as a Captain in 15th Field Artillery Regimane, 2nd Division. During that service, he was awarded three Silver Stars for "gallantry in action" on July 21, 1918 near Villemontoire, France.
In World War II, Waters commanded an artillery training center in China to train nationalist Chinese (known as the Y Force) for defense against the Japanese.
After the war, Brig. Gen. Waters was warden at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in the early 1950s. There, he instituted significant reforms and was also taken hostage at knife point by inmates on one occasion.
He died in 1972. I was born in 1972. I can't help but feel that this has worked out nicely.
I also attach a few items related to Brig. Gen. Waters. In the group photo, he is front left.
Happy Tuesday.

Those cast iron baseboard heaters are amazing, aren't they!? Your place, like mine must be a 1950s vintage. Those baseboards today are around $50/ft, + installation... who can afford them?
