Stratton Sheriffs. The rain isn’t a worry when wearing this monster:

Thanks all for the comments and likes for the 3x LD. Much appreciated my friends.
Today it’s the first “expensive” vintage i got. Loved the color which is hard to capture. Was described as Stormy Autumn Sky, looks steely charcoal in good light. Royal Deluxe Stetson, 2 5/8 overwelt brim. A fine find to me.
Jacket was new in 73’. Still kickin it!!
Be well. Bowen
Great looking Stetson Bowen. Interesting color name. That jacket is all that. The 70s are coming back, all the teenyboppers would envy your vintage-ness.

Ha, wondered what happened. I can tell you it’s a Dobbs Forty, way old, some of the best felt i felt. Ha. Color: i’ll show you but tan, copper ribbon. Talk to Tim, Alley Kat, he just made a clone of one for a friend. Is posted in that thread. Thanks for the interest. Be well. Bowen
Ps: color looks true here.
Good grief, I had so much trouble posting this and I still screwed it up.

The included text should have read: what can you tell me about this one, especially color-wise? If I can get the oomph together, I want to have a custom made in these colors.
Pss: think i screwed it up too. Leaving well enough alone! B

What a super 'burg, Red. Great looking outfit to go with it.

Michael

Dear lord, Mike. That is a fantastically nice looking homburg. Just exquisite color and form.Great looking Pilgrim, Jay. Sears had a winner product with those hats. I really dig mine.

What a beautiful color! It looks good with the shirt and sweater. Better not wear that one to church, the old ladies can only take so much!

GORGEOUS.

Thanks everyone, it is a joy to wear. I even had a student notice it in the elevator. I took my hat off for her, and she actually spent some time gawking at it. She even asked some intelligent questions about it. My faith in the youth was restored, for a while anyways.

I actually couldn't make out the color - still can't. I originally thought there was some green in there.

What I want is more of a green felt with the copper ribbon. But the green has to be just right, and cameras, and lighting, and monitors make it so hard to pinpoint a color.

I think I'm looking for something like this

f24bf8518a29394daa737c188c9824e5.jpg

although I have seen this hat, shot in the same place, look very different in other pictures. Outdoors, even more so. I thought your hat was similar to this one, but this one is not tan.

In the Alley Kat thread, there are many pictures, and much discussion, of hat colors. The professional shots in that thread often don't show the color the same as us average button-pushers take. That's really the main reason I haven't had a custom done. I'd be heart-broken if the color was not what I was expecting.

Really? That's cool. (Not the homesickness part, but that this area was your stomping ground.) When did you move away and where did you land?

I've been in this neck of the woods since '02. Nice area.
I left in 1981 after high school graduation when I joined the Marine Corps. After my enlistment I moved to the Dallas / Fort Worth area. Met my wife and have been here since. Although, as I get closer to retirement I contemplate moving back home.
