A Merry MALLORY Monday for Me, Mates!! You folks continue to kill it with fabulous felt, and even a stray straw...

And, for the benefit of our international pals, it's Presidents' Day (around here)!!!

Some catching up to do! Lovely colour and nice full crown, steve.
Stefan, Thank you. It does have a unique color. Also very wearable.

That hat seems to suck in the light, Steve. A beauty.
Stefan, Thanks again. I have to give Celia (hope she returns) credit for this one. She found it on French Ebay and in turn alerted me.

Reminded tonight that my hat proportions are crossing close to "Mugsy" territory. I may have to consider reducing the crown a bit. Or perhaps to crease for more tugboat and pull down the brim? No cigarretes thank you.

Mugsy was always sport'n nice suits and topcoats. He is also my relative stature. Hmmmm...

Amused this evening. Best, Eric-

This is one of the chief executives in my hat room. Pre-WWII Stetson Clear Beaver western hats don't come up for sale often. This one was discovered by Lounge member Zetwal and I was fortunate to be able to purchase it from him. I made a thread for it with more photographs here.
c.1940, more or less, price labeled at $37.50, which would be more than $650 today.

Sounds like it could be a wet one for my bus and walk outing today. Elosegui Super Lujo is what I'm leaning toward for headwear.

Rain possibly turning to ice later today.Super Lujo for the morning.
Probably the best choice Bob, and you will look good while slipping and sliding.

You really look like a banker...are you a banker? Or maybe a mob boss.
Far from a banker, maybe a wanker. My wife is an accountant, I'm not allowed around money. I'm a historian, probably why I'm so enamored by vintage hats and stuff.

A dog walk in a Gannon (Silverbelly beaver and charcoal trimmings).
Sleet and wind over-night has me working on yard clean-up. Limbs and branches lay all over the yard and beach. Carrying them to the wood stack had me working up a sweat after an hour. Filson jacket and Stormy Kromer my traditional work choice.
Sure enough I found big limbs which I could not move without making them smaller. Losing the wool jacket and switching to a cap that better works with ear-protection I started the chain saw in a Monsavais cap.
It may be 18'f, but the work had me comfortable without a jacket.

A small amount of snow, <4" expected today/tonight. Best, Eric -

Only you could look so great while slinging a chainsaw! Do love SB and charcoal together.

Mighty magnificent Mallory, Mike!
Is that a real suede sport coat?
It feels like suede, but is something on the cheaper side of the tracks. Thanks.

Thanks for all the likes and kind comments about yesterday’s Wonky Disney. Truly appreciated.
Today it’s a RS Playboy. This is the hat that started it all for me. My first fedora. I almost didn’t bid on it because i thought the name was silly. I had no idea how desirable Playboys were. I thought $88 was a way lotta money. Duhh... i learned fast what a diamond deal. Thanks all for letting this one get by.
Be well. Bowen
Super Playboy Bowen. Is it early 1950s? You continue to impress me.

Mike, thanks. I seem to be on a Battersby streak; first the book, then the wide ribbon one and yesterday a homburg (and a box).
You have my attention! Looking forward to eyeballin these. What is the Battersby box like?

Looks good, Mike. You do know how to wear a stingy!
Thanks Stefan. I like a hat that tells a story. A slim brim illustrates the change in both styles and the culture during the early 1960s.

Very nice, Mike. New to the collection?
This one came from our friend Matt last year. It had a un reeded sweat originally that could not be saved. He had Bond put in a new one. This is one of my early forays into homburgdom. Now I'm an addict.

Finally caught up. Been busy a couple of days. Shot from last friday and from today.

Battersby homburg (colour "metal").

Sweet heather finish on that Barbisio. The "Metal" seems to be a odd name for a hat with those tones. Love the curl on that brim though. Very nice Battersby. Love this brand more and more.
