There is no reasonable comparison between Akubra's felt and vintage Borsos, but Akubras are good, rugged working hats. As for Open Roads, I think that depends on the quality of felt of the Open Road...maybe comparable to 3X, but nothing like 7X.

I'll agree with Bob here & add that nothing like a Stetson 25 either. I have a vintage OR in 3X & an OR style 25 plus a raw edge, 2 ply ribboned 25. The felt of the 25s is a couple notches above the 3X. I'd say with some additional pouncing, a stock Campdraft can get to level with a vintage 3X OR. Out of the box, the CD is way too fuzzy. JMHO

Mario, my friend!
Love that Mayser and that brim.
Nice to see you with a smile on your dial too. I think we're all possessed by the spirit of Bogart when we don these lids and adopt his steely gaze in our pics- but even he smiled once in a while.

Good look.

Today I tried to "do a Mario" :D, borrowing on our appreciated German fellow lounger's style and predilection for a mainly black and grey palette...

Hat is a Mr. Disney "Oxford Fifteen".

I have a Mr. Disney Oxford Fifteen, myself. I consider it my finest hat. Looking good, Torpedo!!! :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Thanks, ET. I just HAD to smile. In fact, I was trying hard not to laugh out loud, as I was listening to George Carlin when I was taking the photo...

That explains it Mario. Carlin is one of the few American comedians who is actually funny.

Now Billy Connolly makes me laugh so hard I lose control of my bodily functions...but he's about the only comedian that can do that. It's probably my Scottish upbringing or something.
