Thanks Mike. Always enjoy your NW Hats "Slats" days.
Thanks Bob.

Found this gem at walmart. This will be my go-to until the season is over
Cute, but somewhat disturbing. Merry Ho Ho?

Dang that's a beauty Mike.
Thank you good sir!

Thank you all for the nice comments and likes on yesterdays nutria. For those that looked up the references, I hope you enjoyed them. Resistol beaver 25, today.

Dang Jack, another great one! It looks like it could be from Tom Horn's time.

Thanks DD! I actually ordered this hat as a Conagher but didn't like how it looked on me, so changed it to a Tom Horn.

I've been to Tom Horn's grave & John Coble's grave in Cheyenne, what's left of the Iron Mountain Ranch Co & the Swan Land & Cattle Co, & the gate & circle of stones where Willie Nickell was killed, among other locations.

Great Cav Bob, got some texture in the felt. I like it

Foggy morning here in Alabama and as Christmas nears I decided to wear this Royal Stetson in Hunter Green and a festive Rugby shirt to match.

I steamed this hat with a hand steam unit and did the Indiana Jones crease and pinch. I think it turned out pretty nice. Tonite I’m going to do an old lid and try the Tres Deuce look. Just gotta Watch Kevin, from JJ’s Hats, video again to get that one down.

Killer crease on that one

Early morning I rushed outside hearing odd noises. A coyote had fallen thru thin ice. Only the back 1/2 of the male was in the water, but it was struggling on the slippery ice. Coralling our dogs inside, I spread planks across the bare ice to the small hole and thru a boat towel on the last board. Sure enough the coyote crawled up sprinted into the shore treeline, rolled in the snow and went about its way. Pulled on a wool jacket and vtg. Stetson Playboy for the start of my day.

Yesterday afternoon I needed firewood. My vtg. Stetson Open Road Twenty-five is a frequent chore hat. Soft, malleable felt on this hat. Shows its age, but an excellent hat.

My grandfather and father instilled the discipline of cleaning and preping tools prior to the next use. I offer a nod to my grandfather and dad. Having learned I cleaned the saw and grabbed some hat pics.

Good job on the coyote Eric. I love listening to them at night. Great hats

At Jim's recommendation, I'm working hard to have an adequate day. I started it on a field trip to New Kent County near the banks of the lovely Pamunkey river. The blue Dobbs Fifteen joined me on the journey.

Happy day, all. View attachment 98712 View attachment 98713 View attachment 98714 View attachment 98716 View attachment 98717 View attachment 98718
Definitely a Pamunkeyish hat, hope you enjoyed your day Matt

When I was young I wanted to be a DVM & specialize in large animals, both wild & domesticated. My grandpa had a natural way with animals.

Rand Tom Horn on this foggy morning.

Two hats: one for my head and one for my belly.
FP virtuoso on top, and the winning piece of art from the northern plains Indians festival (done by a friend of mine) imaged on my garment, on my middle.

That FP is indeed a virtuoso the shirt is prettydarn cool too

Out for a haircut and a shot in my aching shoulder (bad Bursa pain, makes it hard to tip my hat to the ladies), and some present shopping. Since it is crazy weather again today, an unlined fedora is in order. The NW Hats Slats Gill Playboy clone in sand. Hollywood curl just like ole' Slats Gill wore in 1934.

That Slats is just a great hat Mike
