What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

Yesterday, Premier Strat in silver-belly, it is taking a brake at one of my favorite places....Cantigny Park Park in Wheaton....

THEN Today.......my Modern Tawney Whippet (regular)................of course I HAD to modify to factory bash..........


I do rather like the look of the regular Whippets, BUT, I wish they would make them more proportional like many hats of yore....ie. bigger sizes get bigger brims.....while a 2 3/8 may look fine in a size 7.....a 7 1/2 really needs a 2 1/2 or 2 5/8 to really have the same look. Ironically, I have TWO of the new "Grand Central" hats where Stetson did exactly that.....these are listed as having a 2 3/8 brim but both of mine are just over 2 1/2 and look great!!!!! They did not do that with ANY of my regular Whippets.......

Nice whippet. I looked at one the other day. The crown height was kind of skimpy, but overall a wearable hat.

YES..........the crown height is skimpy...........I have a devil of a time getting it creased so it does not sit on the top of my head......and of course I would like a 2 1/2 in brim for my big head as well......

Took Mrs. Red to the Oregon coast today for some wave therapy. I started out in the Portis New Slant, but as the wind picked up, I followed Moe's example with a aerodynamic Christy's Bowler. It actually works, I didn't have to hold my hat on my head while photographing crashing waves. Couldn't concentrate on two things at once.

The "wave therapy" will cure what ails you in my opinion. Great couple of hats Mike.

Great pictures!! Those chairs are fantastic! Both of your hats look great! I have had my eye on the Grand Central. I am glad to hear the brim is a bit bigger than advertised. Now to track one down in 7 1/2 or 7 5/8 I thought I remember someone saying they got one from the Hatco Outlet but when I called sadly nothing in my size.

If you get the "Grand Central", be sure to verify the brim......just in case I got a couple of "one off's"....I am sure pleased with mine!!!!
