Great photos Windsock8e. But to me it sounds decidedly bad for you hat budget. Even if the total budget increases you will now be getting only every other hat.

Oh no! But I figure if I buy her the odd hat from time to time, picking up on the hint, I may get some leeway. I showed her some Esther shots a few weeks ago which may be an own goal (but good for Esther).

Hey all!
Many thanks for all the likes and kind words on my recent posts! Always appreciated.
Something a bit different today. Going open crown on this midnight blue 1969 P. & C. Habig Wien compact homburg.

Calling it compact instead of stingy makes it sound more like a car and less like a miser...:)
Have a great day!

Went to Cliveden House, west of London today. Waldorf Astor bought and renovated it in 1895. I guess he was the equivalent of today's billionaires.

No name straw for me and my wife.

She wants to reshape it... hmmm, she has been asking a lot of questions about hats recently... she mentioned a cloche hat she likes... this may be good news for my hat buying budget!
Beautiful setting. Reshape her hat and let her watch...she it getting the bug, nurture it.

You need more panache!

Now that is a commercial image for Gorton's Fish Sticks!

Huntin' 'schrooms in a Stratton Lawman. All I found was this Bluejay feather.

Your blue jays have more interesting feathers than ours do out west. I have some in my backyard I'd like to shoot! Noisy buggers. Love that Stratton.

Outstanding Ant! I imagine it is early 50s late 40s? Another dream hat.

Continuation of wonderful cool felt weather. The rain overnight knocked all of the forest fire smoke out of the air, smells all fresh and crisp. I just had to run an errand to Safeway just to wear another felt. Today, I dressed down to my Hat City Hat Co. grey fedora. Nice example of a low end, affordable hat of the 1950s. I still can't find any decent info on this brand. Felt is smooth and thin, but not as supple/clay like of my upper class hats. I enjoy it for what it is.

Yesterday's storms knocked out our power. It is expected to be restored by late this afternoon. I was fortunate that I had minimal hail or wind damage. This morning I was up and out cleaning up beach, dock, boathouse and yard. I started in a vtg. Stetson Playboy (silver belly) and switched to a Dobbs Cross Country (gray) when I came in for another cup of coffee.
