New/Old stock leghorn straw hat from the Stetson Factory store... c.1940.
lol, yeh a friend was in rome years back at the end of summer, it was sweltering hot, he and the romans were dressed for summer, the following day was the first day of autumn, but it was even hotter, he dressed for summer and the romans were wearing tweed and fur.On a day return business trip to Milan, no hat as it is too hot for felt and did not have a straw. Happened by the Borsalino boutique in the Galleria Vittorio Emmanuelle and checked it for straws, but honestly, an €823 montechristo is beyond my budget! Not quite a picture of me in a hat, but I did try a few on.
I was hoping to try an Alessandria but they did not have any in that boutique as it is a winter hat they told me with a look that said I was deranged to ask.

They are cool old suits, and I mean that literally. I wish I had a few more pairs of pants like the ones that these suits have. Very light and cool and comfortable to wear.Thank you very much for the kind words Michael! I love the welted edge and 3/2 roll on those old Brooks Brothers wash and wear suits.
The color on that hat is so rich Moe. I think I've asked before, but how wide is the brim on this one?Hey folks!
Thanks to everyone for the appreciation of my recent posts. You people are the best!
Recently, about half of my hats have been reminding me that I, too, must make a journey to le barber. This deep rich green (and incredibly soft and fuzzy) 50's Lembert Velour from Germany is not one of them. As it is a cool foggy day here on the NorCal coast, it is the hat du jour.
Have a great day!
