Simply stunning. That must have been the cowboy's Sunday go to meeting (or Saturday go to Schul) hat.

THIS hat deserves, err, no REQUIRES additional posting, if only for its spectacular uniqueness. I don't recall seeing it before, Alan. New find? The silk underside is a la a tuxedo hat, isn't it?

Thanks guys... this hat is one from a bunch that surfaced in a 2012 auction for some surviving store stock from a Cheyenne, WY store that was said to have closed before WWI. I bought a few, so did RLK. Charlie, yes - the only place I've seen that silk lined brim is in 1920s - 1930s tuxedo hats. I've never owned one of these. The hats I bought from the auction were posted in the pre 1940s non-Stetson western thread.

Thanks bAm!
Totally digging your handiwork. Like the looks of that ribbon!
Thanks, man! I'm doing my first whippet style right now but the binding is actually way more difficult than I expected. I finally got my process for curling the ribbon worked out but the rear seam is still a bit dodgy. That, and (re Ask a Question thread) I'm not sure which stitch to use to actually bind it.

that looks exactly like my bathroom waste basket ... I love it !!!

That hat is a piece of work alright... Looks good on you though!

BWAHAHA!! I was thinking it needed to have some fruit in it.

:D...maybe it already does... :D
(Love ya, Matt!)
Thanks guys. (You too Mike. Just didn't want to quote your multi-quote and create a mega-quote).

Yeah... It's an oddball hat. I like to think of it as folk art. But, it needs a nice ribbon to complement its wastebasketty eccentricities. Perhaps one fashioned from some Cottonelle.

And Jim... no worries (even though I've always considered myself more of a vegetable because of my hard-of-thinkingness).
And I love you, too, you suave, debonair Playboy beast. [emoji6].
That's a kick-ass hat.

Good wet morning. Strong storms passed thru our area in the last 24 hours. This morning with on-off rain I have been out in a Stetson Whippet (circa 2013). Perfect hat for the conditions.

Thanks Red and Charlie.
No, it was actually crushed under the car. I was debating what to do, so yesterday I just got out steamer and steamed the bejeebus out of it, and reshaped it. Looks better than it did before!
I've had that experience when steaming as well.
