It's a mournful and introspective day, today. Last Tuesday, the wife of our church's director of religious education was shot and killed while driving home from our Lenten confession service. Apparently, one gangster caught a rival gangster tagging his apartment complex. He opened fire on the tagger and a stray bullet hit our DRE's wife in the head. Her funeral is today (I'm about to leave the office to attend the service), so please keep her husband and daughter in your thoughts and prayers.

The takeaway -- life is precious but fragile. Appreciate every minute and every person.

That is indeed a tragedy of the worst kind. My prayers will go out to that family.

Our boys in blue have been working nonstop to deliver justice. The raid that delivered one of the suspects occurred on Wednesday -- SWAT and gang-units were out in full force. One thing I love about my city is that the community responds swiftly to these sorts of tragedies.

It's terrible when innocent people get caught in the crossfire of gangsters.

Ha! Yup. It's definitely tall and straight! Just the way a lot of us like them! Just re-watched one of my favorite classic film noir movies last week, "Murder My Sweet" (1944), with Dick Powell and Mike Mazurki. Talk about tall crowns and wide brims! Not everybody can pull off the tall crowns, but a big guy like Mazurki could...(check out that classic '40s Whippet style lid he's wearing in this scene.)!

Another of my favorite Film Noir movies was, "Out Of The Past" (1947), with Robert Mitchum and Kirk Douglas. Here's a tall crown wide brimmed thin ribbon. Gotta love these movies!
Guys back in the day knew how to wear hats!

So sorry to hear this terrible news.
Life is precious. Thoughts and prayers with her family and the congregation.

You look sharp as a tack, my man. Nice!
