It is truly a beauty David. I always love these photos on the leather bag. Classic.

Thanks Daniele. You were looking good in the Dobbs today. Do you think they made those for the Italian market or for the then sizeable contingent of US military men stationed in, around or vacationing in Italy?
Michael, knowing the war between the Italian hat factories in those years is very likely to Panizza, building Dobbs in Italy, trying to take market share to rivals Borsalino, Barbisio and others.
I think the US military stationed in Italy were more attracted to Borsalino and Co. rather than from a home brand built in Italy. It's just my guess.
I also suspect that the production of foreign brands under license serve to maintain, in the years of hat crisis, the active workforce.
It must be said also that the felts product by Panizza is one of the best in Italy.
The production of the hats models, however, was very traditional, almost the opposite of Borsalino.

I don't know if this spectacular coat has been posted before, but WOW! Michael you continue to amaze me. We all love the Pilgrim, but what is the story on that fur coat. Hubba Hubba!
And a huzzah and rah, rah. I was going for this, but it seemed like too much work this morning.

I just got the coat locally a couple of weeks ago as the replacement for an almost ankle length raccoon lined with horse blanket that I inexplicably threw away when I was moving some years ago. I can't tell you much about it except that it was made by J Reichbart Co in New York. That family seems to have been in the fur trade from at least around the turn of the 20th century. I don't know if this one dates to the craze in the later 20s or not. I suspect not

Thanks for the info Daniele. The felt and color in the Dobbs Panizza looks superb.

So great! I want to be you when I grow up, but my wife won't let me. :(
Thanks Bob. I think the secret is, don't grow up, just do.

It's going to be a 2 hat day today. Disney in dark navy this a.m. at the office, then off to a fundraiser/dinner/anniversary party for a local charitable organization (hats for the horrific, or something... no). I've got a wool/cashmere jacket picked out that's got a herringbone kind of look to it. Planning on taking the Penneys Marathon. The Dobbs Temptation looked a bit flashy for a "business casual" environment... we are guests at a table purchased by a community bank here in the county.

Thanks Doug. See above for all I know about the coat. The Pilgrim you've seen before, and I don't know much about it either. It was one I picked up at Halloween last year at the local Goodwill. I suspect it's a 1950s model and according to the sweatband is a Sable Finish.

The Pilgrim looks great! Too bad about your racoon coat. What a shame, but this new fur coat looks fabulous, too!

That Disney is just killer. Fantastic color. Sounds like you will be the well dressed gentleman on your outings today.

Thanks. Yes, I still get the sads whenever I remember that coat. It had to be the warmest coat I've ever worn. Though it did come in at about 15 lbs, so it could have just been the extra exertion of wearing it. Ha ha. The fur on the new one is in better condition.
