No its 1950s vintage Royal Stetson quality. I've had a handful of 1950s era Strats and this has the lightest, most malleable felt I've ever handled.I have one just like this, color sage green, via Moon. Is it modern? Is it a royal deluxe Excellent quality?
Even more impressive then! I need a vintage strat. No its 1950s vintage Royal Stetson quality. I've had a handful of 1950s era Strats and this has the lightest, most malleable felt I've ever handled.
What an extraordinary find, in such good condition, truly exceptional! The horsehair band works really well.Made sometime during Stetson's first fifty years or thereabouts.
I added the horsehair band... the ribbon underneath:
You two make a great coupleSimone and me last friday, off to dinner with friends.
Lots of great hats over the last few days. Keep up the good work!

Excellent job Fruno! Does your wife wear hats regularly as well?Nah, the reason her show didn't last is because of low ratings - so you're not the only one!
This is the one I "made" for my wife. I ordered an unfinished hat from D'Aquino Hats (Portugal). It's a FEPSA felt. Picked up the ribbon on eBay, and my wife found a post WWII era Allied Victory pin to put the icing on the cake. She really likes it.

Danged lawyers!
If I didn't know better I'd think you were a real grown-up dressed like that Seriously though, that hat is a beauty, you look great!First time dressing like a grown-up with the new-to-me (what seems to be a 1950s or so) Borsalino nutria homburg.

I think that I will keep this hat. It does not suck.
Esther doesn't wear a tiny hat, she wears the perfect sizeThanks for sharing the interior shots. It is from the 1960s. Had no idea that you wear a tiny hat. The world is your oyster in the vintage market, should your plans change. ;^)
Great ribbon, nice tie! Looking goodKnox Twenty today. Another glorious day.

The hat doesn't seem to mindNow, that was a rainy walk.
So furry, amazing texture!Joining Alan for a Nutria day, but this one is a Real one.
Thank you Daniele. I had thought of a darker red as well.I had two direct experiences with Tonak and they have been what I expected
I bought five hats, one in wool as gift for my doctor and another very interesting in deep blue but the size in Czech are very generous, so I sold it to a loungers.
This year I have the right size and my choice was weighted by experience with a great satisfaction
If you want to know more about Tonak, send me a line
I like too red on red, maybe the ribbon could be a little bit more dark. Rosso Venezia?
Thanks! And to everyone else who came up with suggestions. Decisions, decisions... Maybe I need to make some interchangeable ribbons.Yes on the contrasting ribbon, great idea!
....my target weight is 124 lbs [emoji6]
I took my new Northwest out for her maiden voyage today.
I have doubts on your 50's vintage assessment ... but a nice hat none the less
EXQUISITE, Celia!!! So lovely, so feminine! Some beautiful hats here again today! I wore this nameless German ladies' hat. A good friend of mine inherited her mother's hats, but they are way too small for her, so she asked if I wanted them. Some were too small for me too, but this one was a perfect fit.
Thanks Serge.
Ha! Something tells me that this one came out of the factory already "unsucked", Alan.
There is no retail outlet name embossed on the sweatband. However, it seems to be produced for the U.S. consumer. The size is noted 7 1/4, rather than 58. View attachment 68100 It fits my noggin' just right, so that's definitely U.S. rather than U.K..
Is there a way to determine the market from the factory label? View attachment 68101

Slaughterhouse Five?Apologies for the reference to a read from my youth, which I fear is a little earlier than your youth, kiddo. ;^)
The "made in Italy" above Original House is an indication of a hat made for sale in the U.S. The size tag too, though I think I have hats that were sold in Italy with US size labels.
The size tag indicates this one could be as old as 1960's: http://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/dating-vintage-stetsons-by-size-tag.46483/First off all thanks for all the likes on the hat. I appreciate them all.
Alan, it sure does turn some heads, but thats not unusual. I never really notice.
I've never really owned hats that I did not make myself, nor do I plan to do so in the future. I have always had a soft spot for these though.
It a 7X stetson open road, I have no clue about the age. Just a rough idea.
It's in fantastic condition.
Slaughterhouse Five?
Thanks for the great pointers on tracing the hat's travels, Alan.
