The last of my NorthWest Purchases. I was originally expecting this hat to be a shade of charcoal darker than what I received. Almost heather black to be exact. Then my idea was to put a black bow on top of it so it popped just a little bit from the hat color. Unfortunately that is not what I received. I also think the crown is too high which gives off a cartoonish look a la Porky Pig in a Gangster Suit. Anyway I kept it because I hate going to the Post Office.

NorthWest Hats ( lets call it carbon grey with a black bow ) Stafford JC Penney Suit ( LOVE THESE SUITS ! Best Deal In Town) Gucci EyeGlasses / Givenchy Sunglasses)

Hmm, not cartoonish to me at all. I think the higher crown works for you. Only one mens opinion and I'm biased. I really like tall crowns.

Let's start with the ribbon disk. Here's a link to a vendor who sells it in the US: https://www.judithm.com/products/ribbon-disk
And here it is in use, mine is from blockmakers Morse Brown:

It's only useful for straight brims (fedoras etc), if the brim curls up like on a homburg then it's of no use because the ribbon is not curled on its folded edge.
I think you're making fun of poor me with the fake Persian lamb question... probably the word would be faux persian lamb? http://www.moodfabrics.com/black-faux-persian-lamb-fur-309383.html

No, I'm not making fun of you. Fake or faux, it's the correct way to say it. I'm just a smart-aleck, Cristina. And I can't risk low-hanging fruit.

I've poked around Judith Miller's site in the past. Never have ordered anything though. And I've never tackled brim binding before. I can swirl a crown ribbon pretty well freeform, though. Thanks for the explanation. It's great to have knowledgeable hatters on the forum.

Rocking it today Michael! You get a real Ho! Ho! Ho! on that outfit. Great cap and jacket combo. Love those Woolrich products.
Thank you sir. The cap and jacket seemed apropos the season and the job at hand.

You and your wife were impeccably turned out last night. Fantastic hat and great style for both of you. I can't even remember the last time I saw someone in black tie in this town, who wasn't performing in a choir or something of that nature at least.

I do like this hat, but I miss having a brim. Back to brims tomorrow methinks...
Love the hat, looks good on you. Who made it?!

Walked outside this morning and it was in the mid-60s. I will not complain.

Because of all the fowl talk yesterday, I stand (and sit, when appropriate) with Moe.

@Frunobulax There's just three chicks in this thread and you're getting us mixed up! ;-)
A ribbon disk is not really necessary, you are right about that!

Foggy Sunday morning.
I'm reading and writing about the Borsalino situation, so I decided to improve "the support" to all the Borsalino passionate

Thank you, I feel better as well. That Game Bird is pristine! It's good you kept the feathers intact. "Life with the top down!", Fozzie Bear was right!
