Chilly, damp and foggy this morning. It should burn off. I haven't worn my Biltmore Golden Pheasant homburg in awhile.

So I thought I would. But then I remembered I wanted to take pictures of a hat I picked up yesterday.

It's a sort of interesting, to me at least, double billed tweed unit made by Henry Griffiths and Son in Tregwynt Wales. Sort of like a deerstalker without the earflaps.

So I'm going with a two hat day. I have a lot of lift and carry to do around the yard today and I'll wear the tweed for that. The Homburg goes out with me on an errand later.

Lovely bunch of hats here again today. You guys really need to dial it back once and awhile.

Thanks. I'm participating in Movember, though my wife isn't a fan of the facial hair. It'll be coming off in December. Our office took before shots of all participants and they're going to award prizes for best mustache, best overall facial hair, etc., at the end of the month. I doubt I'll place in any of the categories, but it's a worthwhile cause and the office matches all contributions.
I admit I'm looking forward to breaking out my 170+ year old Tally-Ho straight and getting a good shave, thought it's fun to take a break for a while.

Before the beard itchy stage gets too bad get a small bottle of beard oil or go to a health food store like GNC & get a small bottle of Jojoba oil. 3-4 drops per day applied by hand will soften the beard, treat the skin underneath & drastically cut down on the itch as it grows out. Jojoba oil is all natural plant based with very little smell to it. Since you don't plan to keep the beard that might be the best way to go.

I agree, jojoba oil is great for softening beard and skin. And that reminds me, I used up the last of my bottle making some shoe conditioner.

I'm happy to read your comments on the Imperial Stetson. It is an unusual hat in both marks and color, happy that you enjoyed seeing it. The Imperial lives in its original box - one of a small number of hat boxes that I keep for storage on the top of my hat shelves. I prefer to keep hats out where I can see them and remember to wear them. Another hat that I keep in a box is this furry Flechet, one from an incredible NOS find by RLK. A beautiful sunny day calls for a beautiful hat.

Thanks for the advice. I actually have some mighty fine Bay Rum beard oil I use as an aftershave balm. Two to three drops rubbed between my palms then smoothed on my beard works wonders. This place has some great stuff - http://ttffcraft.com/beardoil.html. (Not affiliated, just a happy customer)
If I decide the bay rum is a bit heavy I just combine a bit of mineral oil with some Thayer's Witch Hazel and rub that on my beard and face. Nearly odorless and allows the use of a different scent on top. Top everything with a splash of Lucky Tiger tonic and I'm set for the day.
