This extremely lightweight OPS era Dobbs Cross Country is perfect on an unseasonably warm day

Joao,
What is the brim height on that Stetson? It's a great looking hat.

I know you mean Kettle Curl , or I think that's what you mean Joe . Looks 3/4" , pencil curl I think is 1/8-1/4" but I'm guessing .

It's just the backdrop, Esther. If you look like you crawled out of a cave, then I look like I was shot out of a cannon this morning!

Thank you, thank you ALL for the collection of wonderful comments on the Stetson yesterday, folks! Every one is truly appreciated, if not individually acknowledged. Time constraints again today...

Working on my self-improvement plan wearing a 1952 Stetson hommy, worn at both my daughters' weddings.

Off-topic today, but as a follow up to our conversation about Boston accents, MichaelR, I had to post this shot of a place in the North End of Boston...

My hands start to itch when I look at that hat. The felt looks very touchable if you know what I mean.

I think this color does suit you, but yes more neutral than what you usually show us.

None the less, beautiful hat

Thanks Esther. I know what you mean. We have a thread here somewhere devoted to the 7XCB. It is smooth like a baby's tush and finely pounced, but most exciting is the clay-like hand to the felt... it holds the shape you give it like a thin sheet of lead. The felt is very similar (perhaps identical) to the Stetson 100 but because it was made earlier you can find examples that are not as stiff as what Stetson made from 1960 on. I have five, I think... have not been able to bring myself to sell a one.

Yes,
I guess I didn't say that very well, but you guys knew what I meant. The curl looks very full/tall. I like it a lot. I am waiting on an open crown hat with a curled brim, but not sure it will be as full as Joao's. (Hoping it is though)

So awesome. Now having a Dobbs myself I can just feel the felt of that thing.
this is a very different hat than the one you have

it is a unreeded , unlined hat that was known as a "travel" hat ... different animal than the dress hat that you have ... in pretty much every way

not in a better or worse way ... just different
