Thank you all for your appreciations about the hat and location of yesterday.

Today the heat is still here and until the next week it will last.

I'm the same boat. Every time I wear a hat brim up I just look like Otis the Drunk on the Andy Griffith show.

You look way more mysterious with the brim down!
It makes me look like a sailor. I know women that look great with brims that go up. ( they do go up a lot further though)

Yes, the two tone ribbon, lets say it's an "esther weis" signature. All my hats have a double two tone bow.
Though on the mens hats the color combinations are more subtle.

Mikespens HOW could I have failed to mention your happy countenance yesterday?!? (I only went back ten pages, that's how...) Completely fantastic lid/shirt combo, man!! Hats off to you and Bob J.
Same for LtHats! Super solid showing over the last two days, Scott. Great lids and suits my friend!

DANIELE! You are back with a spectacular display of beauty... (nice PHD lid, too!) You always enhance your gorgeous hats with such beautiful settings. Thanks for popping your head up!!

As an early morning chauffeur to a colonoscopy appointment (things started off really looking up today...) so my choice was this VS lightweight felt in Sahara.

Hey everyone!

Fruno, the CD looks good either way, but best in the non-hipster position.
Esther, your streak of great pics remains unbroken. I like the look with the glasses.
hatsRme-you said your day started off really looking up....too bad we all know what was really being looked up :(. Nice hat though!

Today is a "soft debut" of my latest creation. Moehawk Original No. 6 is Winchester beaver in Navy. I tried to make it as close to an OR as I coud. I call it a "soft debut" as it was my first attempt at binding a brim with a sewing machine. Harder than one might think, especially for a newbie to the world of mechanized sewing. I have another piece of ribbon in the dye bath, going to redo it tonight in a shade closer to the felt. The band and bow will stay the brighter blue.

I'll post more pics when I'm happier with the brim. Even with the binding being wonky I still got 3 compliments from passers by in less than an hour. :)

Have a great day!

Why thank you kind sir!
The glasses are more out of tiredness than anything else :)

What I find helpful with binding is : cut your grosgrain a LITTLE bit shorter than the length of the edge. This gives some tension when you pull it over and iron it round before you stitch the seam.
Both will make it look sharper and will make it easier for you to stitch.
