I was counting montecristis this morning, kept this one out to wear... a wide brim fine weave from a Boston hatter.

Charlie, "Royal" may be at the bottom of the Stetson quality scale but that hat is top quality in "looks"! When I picture the classic fedora in my mind it looks just like your Royal Stetson

Thanks, Tommy! I'll take the bottom rung all day long if that's what I'd get. Like pizza, whoopee pies, and sex ... even lousy ones are generally excellent!

Another STAR from the heap, Alan!! WOW! What number did you reach when you made your decision?

Thanks, Anthony! Hoping you'll get yourself a Royal, I'll say a novena for you for the next few days. We must cover ALL the bases!

I had to look up what a novena was.... being raised in an italian household I am embarrassed that I didn't know what it was

I can feel my Nana putting the malocchio on me from beyond because I didn't recognize the word

.... yeah I have my eye on a couple Royals at the moment and am in discussions with some other people I know about a few as well ... so hopefully I come away with one of them

people ask ridiculous prices for the most part and half the time they have no idea what they have.... I'm not saying I am a flawless expert .... but thanks to some of the great people around here I do know what to look for

Alan superb as always !!

TOO funny, Anthony!!! Your Nono, too, if he knew. Double malacchio! Pretty good for a Jewish kid who grew up in northern VT, eh? (Me) One of my best friends was a kid named Mario. His mom, right offa da boat, made amazing Sicilian pizza from scratch. I stayed close, learned all I could!

Where's Daniele?!?!

my grandfather always said in his neighborhood in Brooklyn you could never tell who was jewish and who was italian because boths mothers were always yelling out the window for them to get their asses home and they always had two main things in common.... food and guilt

I should break out some of his pictures from the old neighborhood .... talk about fantastic hats!!

When you get a moment, please do! You know there are various threads just for those pictures, right?

You're right on about those Italian and Jewish mamas! Beautiful pasta, gorgeous chicken; their respective food terms.

+1. Food and guilt! Couldn't live without one and they always made you live with the other...

fantastic Dave!!

I'm absolutely loving mine

it has a real old time vibe to it that I dig very much
I fly to Dallas tomorrow and will be visiting the Stetson/Resistol outlet before my conference starts. Wearing the Fed IV to remind myself what a real quality hat feels like so I'll stay focused tomorrow. My mom is picking me up from the airport, and I'm sure she'll insist on buying little Davie a hat. Kid in the candy store I'll be. [emoji14]
