I got this one at a really good price from J.J./Pork Pie Hatters. But I don't like it very much. I think it's the color, the looseness of weave. It reminds me of the $19 hats sold by the street vendors in lower Manhattan. Kinda generic even though it does have a diamond crown. But in keeping with the spirit of things, it IS what I wore today. I wanted brown to go with my brown shirt and shoes...... I have something I really like planned for tomorrow. The same, but different!!!
Rick, there is no identifier inside the hat, but it could be. It came with a hand-creased C-crown so I steamed it out and re-creased it with the center dent/front pinch/turned-up brim. It just seemed to me like a better look for this particular hat.
Perry, g.durand, nice hats today guys. Very nice, actually. I really like both of those.
For me today, at least this morning when it was cooler, I'm wearing a John Galt Indy conversion. It started out in life as a 4X Resistol Stagecoach. John G. did a fabulous job on this one, but me, never satisfied with one thing, I changed this crease out four times and the ribbon I changed out twice. It's been the same with my other hats too! John G's working on another one for me, but we decided that he would send it to me opened crowned and without a ribbon since I'd probably change everything around about a million times anyway after I got it! Ol' John's gonna stop doing hats for me if I keep messing around with his work! Anyway, John's darn good at fixing up some real nice conversions...A few different pics of the Stagecoach Indy conversion....
Another stingy-brim straw diamond crown from Biltmore. This one is black. I have a navy blue one too. I like the low crown, and it sits low on the head too.
It's like halfway between a porkpie and a fedora. I haven't worn it brim-up yet. But I'm beginning to like that look more and more (it's my 3rd week of hat-wearing!)
