Looks great Bolt. I have never heard of a Barton. Whats the story on that make?
Honestly, I tried researching it when I got it, but came up empty. I do know it's a nice liitle Lid with a very cool ribbon, that has been good to me over the years. I will miss it, but it's going to another member as a swap, so I know it will be worn well.

Great lids, everyone!

Rusty -- that Campdraft just looks good everywhere you go.

Kentucky Gent -- nice Campdraft yourself!

Gene -- I love the felt/ribbon combo on that Dobbs. Classic.

Bart -- Great looking VS!

Bolt -- is there a "Lion" heading your way...? ;)

As far as the Stetson Royal DeLuxe goes...Carter, St.Ignatz, Garrett -- many thanks. St.Ignatz -- that lid actually hails from close to you -- purchased at the Stetson factory store at 1224 Chestnut Street in Philly on December 15, 1948.

Cheers,
JtL

Today it's my BCF Beater. Today we got a Christmas tree and put it up. I'm not about to wear my Stylemaster for that work. Later will be decorating time, and I've realized that my daughter has never had a live Christmas tree until this year.

It was the annual Jingle Bell Run/Walk for the Arthritis Foundation.
i did not walk in it today but my father in law ran in it.
I saw a few hats, one Tilley a few stingy brims and a short brim milan on a Amish man at the River Market.
You weren't that far from me during that run, RBH. I got caught in traffic by that event at the corner of Capitol and Broadway.

Gentlemen, as always, the lids you've posted are beautiful.

OHHHHHYEAAAAHHH!

My Dobbs Hanover Square is really their riposte to Stetson's Whippet and a very nice hat - but your cadet blue number is not only the genuine article but a great color and in great shape. I'm beginnin' to think you may have good taste in hats or somethin'....

:D :D :D

I was lucky enough to find that Whippet in mint, open-crown condition -- in a 7 1/2 long oval, no less. Fits like it was custom made. I think that it's probably a mid-50's model, with a slightly smaller crown than 40's Whippets. Given the smaller crown, I tried to give it a bit of a sleeker crease.

BobC -- Thanks! As far as teardrop creases go -- the less manipulation, the more "perfect" the crease. I probably spend the most time getting the side dents the way I want them -- but, from that point on, it's a pretty quick process. The key with the elevated portion of the teardrop is that it is formed from underneath -- not from manipulating the top of the lid. At this point, I've got a system down -- it probably takes me about 15 minutes from open crown to finished product. It's a bit of a zen exercise, and totally absorbing. Felt sculpture...:)

Cheers,
JtL

Maybe next time, RBH. Just let me know if you're going to be in town and I'll bet we can track down a cup of coffee somewhere. ;)

Daizawaguy, that's a nice hat and goes great with your overall look. I took notice because, as I'm getting ready to acquire my first hat, I think elements of our style will me similar. About once a week I wear a turtleneck with a jacket or suit, I wear rimless glasses similar to yours, and I consider the pocket square a must.

BTW, I lived in Tokyo for nine years and am planning to move back. Seeing pictures of you there worsens my impatience.

I was going to say that was Alan's forehead:D , but it's an Optimo crease that goes all the way up and over and down the back I believe....and Alan...you look great!...
