It's just a piece of cheap polyester ribbon tied in a slipknot. It wouldn't be too hard to replicate.

Here is an impulse buy from yesterday, a black/grey wool from JCP. Already gotten some good use, although it's just the tiniest bit tight, and I'm afraid it will shrink up in short order.

Case, that hat needs to be in the thread of the top 10 lounger's hat. I really like that color and how it looks on you. I am undecided on that color, maybe a lite felt, or a dark brown. I love blue and there are a lot of midnight blue hats, but that would be a hard color for me to wear a lot, but yours seems so smooth

Thanks Historyteach24. It's one of me favorite hats and the ribbon matches nicely with the felt. A slipknot to hold the ribbon on is utilitarian while still looking nice. The only problems with this kind of ribbon is that, as I haven't tacked it down, it falls off occasionally and the polyester ribbon isn't as nice and flexible as normal hat ribbon would be.

Memphislawyer: I think Jeff (bowlerman) had it listed in his top ten of other loungers. It's definitely one of my favorites. The whiskey color really is nice. If I were in the position of choosing as you are I would choose the whiskey color over dark brown. I, too would like to get a midnight blue hat some time in the future.

I have often wondered if I could pull of the look of a Homburg or Derby but without a hat store located anywhere within my area it has been placed on my back burner ......

Well it was on the back burner until I stumbled upon this Mallory Gold Medal Cravenette Derby made in the 30's...

I got the nerve to post a pic but I think these styles of hats are not for me.........

It is a great hat and in excellent condition ...

I will post more pics of the hat in the Bowler or Derby hat Thread......
