Josh & Perry, This is a strange one. It came with a Campaign style crease and the felt is very stiff with a flat brim (I gave it the swoop). Highly possible it was modified although the felt is a thicker weight than you would expect from a Borsalino. I am sure it's from at least the 1930s maybe older.
Perry, Highly possible. The seller had a modified old JHS (from same hat shop) which also had a Campaign crease. The crown was extended by about 1/2 inch and the sweatband is from the same time period but not JHS (see link below).
hatophile - The tall crown on your Rene is bold. Nice one!
Memphis - You are wearing that hat well. A contrasting hat makes a great look. I enjoy seeing your new hats in action. Plus, you're in Memphis, so a thin ribbon is tres chic! Awesome hat, dude!!! :thumb:
Jeff - I like the first shot of your wide brimmed beauty! Cool ribbon. And nice Resistol, too!
Eric - Is that a smoke colored edge? If so, nice color combo and contrast. Well done, E!
m0nk - Basic. Simple. Timeless.
Case - Another fantastic Fawcett for a fabulous Friday! Looks like Art added some special attention to the smooth finish on that.
Josh - Bravo on the Biltmore!
Robert - Fuzzy Fuzzy. Your tweed cap goes great with that shirt!!
Alan - Such a quiet profile with such a statement on your head. Incredible hat, I like the vintage outward taper. Or perhaps it's the angle. Either way, a very nice hat. :yo:
Mayser - Your Echter is sublime.
splinter - I may have to bid on that hat. Beautiful!
lauro - You are a purveyor of fine up-brimmed hats!!
WAY TO GO EVERYONE! A terrific day for great hats!!
Many thanks for your kind comments, Manfred, EggHead, and Jeff!
Manfred: I am glad you enjoyed the photos. Film making is incredibly hard work. So many details to fuss over, and endless planning and preparation, but deeply satisfying on so many levels.
EggHead: More pictures to come. It is a feature-length film!
Che, yeah, Barry made a great job, you look very good with it.
Lauro, looks fine on you the Rollaway.
Robert, that Donegal Cap looks good on you!
Justin, pitty with your Mallory. The hat looks very good and works well for you!
Steve, unbelievable that that is the same hat. A new life for an old guy. Very nice shape, now.
The tip patch look not original for me. My guess, the pre owner of the hat removed the liner because it was dirty and makes from the rest of
the liner this tip patch!
