FPH - The Cadence

Okay, so there I was...

...and then this package shows up at work from Falcon Park Hattery! The first half of the day was enjoyed with my navy Robley. The second half of the day will conclude with my Falcon Park Hattery custom, "The Cadence".

You gotta have confidence with high-crown hats, and it looks like you do in that one. I think the same about wearing Open Roads, Campdrafts (if I had one), Fed IVs, and a custom-made one that I bought a year and a half ago. It's just a different image than you have with a low-crowned hat, and it requires a different attitude, in a way. When I took French, one of my college professors said "you need to have two personalities," meaning one for English, one for French. I think that was true about languages, and I also think it's true about wearing different kinds of hats.

He did. It's called a 52 Block. I wanted a '30s inspired hat with presence, and he delivered!

That's a very nice compliment. For that, I thank you! My wife calls my high crowned hat my "Looney Toons" hats!!

Well you can't go wrong with a 52 block. Its my favorite block shape, and just like you, I love my 30's styled hats. There are a few block that are even straighter with a flatter top than a 52, but a 52 is probably the best choice for a 20's/30's style hat.

It is a custom, done by a guy named Carmack who sold on ebay. I haven't seen any of his listings there recently though. If you're interested send me a pm and I'll send you the email address I used to communicate with him last year when I ordered this hat.

Alan, I really like the look of the pork pied western hat. Did it come that way or did you reform it to be like that?

I have a Resistol western that I've reformed that way and IMO it works decently. I'm hoping it's more of an oversize Oppenheimer look and less of a modern country western look.

Thanks! I just took it out of the box this afternoon - haven't worked on it yet. I plan to keep the crown telescoped, but will see if the felt responds to being folded a little tighter for a bit more crown height.
