My new to me Cavangah Homburg:

Had to apply a bit of steam to get the side creases to hold. Also, I think I've discovered that I'm slightly long oval. The stiffer crown leaves some room on the sides, and gives me a light headache...I suppose I'll stretch it a bit to see if that helps.
Jared, that sounds familiar. I've had to "long-ovalize" a few of mine, lightly steaming the hat with extra spacers between the stretcher and the sweat, simulating the irregular oblong nature of my warped cranium. Works wonders! Don't abandon the effort, 'cause you rock that hat.

I was very pleased to get this one with only one person (our old friend Hats Enough) bidding against me.

This hat has the OPA tag so is an early to mid 40's model. I'll post more pics when I get the chance.
Such a classic lid, and yours looks to be a mint (not "minty") example. And congratulations to you for prevailing over such a formidable bidding foe. Gloves must've been off.

You can really pull that one off. Not everyone can make a homburg casual and hip. Congratulations.

David, Randall, Dan: thanks for the kind words of encouragement. I did feel a little underdressed, but I think the side dents help make a Homburg look more casual. It's quite a nice shade of gray, and I really like the curl in the brim.

Fantastic, Blackthorn! Truly inspiring.

I might be stretching the confines of this thread a bit, but I had a rather cool opportunity to spend Labor Day weekend at a cabin at Clear Lake, SD, near the Sisseton/Whapeton reservation area, to do a little field work and meet with a Native Dakotan who I've been commissioned to write a piece for with our orchestra. Really an amazing time for me. Here's a short montage:

Upon arrival at the cabin, I discovered the owners had left me the use of one of the flutes the flute player had made, which usually resides in an area museum.

We wasted no time sitting at the edge of the dock.

Okay, maybe we spent a lot of time there the first evening.

Nicely done! That hat is awesome! I have been wanting a homburg, but I've often wondered how I might pull off the casual look with it. You are definitely rockin' it!! :thumb:

Perry, Randall, Rusty, Jeff, Alan and David, thank you very much Gentlemen for the always kind words. It's much appreciated.
Jeff, I removed the edge binding and ironed the brim a little bit flater, to imitate the look of the 30s. But not only for that photo!! :D

I didn't get any good shots of my hat today, but I did get a nice birthday cake from everyone at work. And they went the extra mile by putting a hat collage on top!

I'm glad you co-workers have a better appreciation of hats than mine do!

Dobbs Rainbow today. Noone told me it was TAR day, but some nice ones so far Dave and Tom.

beatiful hat, those bound brims are a favorite! what is TAR day?

Akubra Fed IV

that Fed IV is the next hat on my list! great bash,

Loving the cool mornings and being able to wear some favorite felts again.

Borsalino Marque Grand Luxe today

that borsalino is near perfect!

This is my latest fedora, a Barrister by Champ. Not sure of the year but I believe it to be genuine late 40's/early 50's.

That is an awesome photo & hat. very reminiscent of a retired professor :)

Starting the day with a newly arrived 40's Stratoliner

nothing makes my day more than seeing one of my Grail hats on the lounge so I know they are out there!

Major Moore and I are heading south through Georgia... No photos yet but he is wearing one of his custom westerns and I am sporting my Buckaroo Playboy.

safe travels

Last night was our School Night for Scouting, when we gave a presentation and had kids sign up for the next year, since I'm the new Cub Master, I had to look "official"

My fed IV graced my head this morning. I hate to say it but the Raiders crease looks better on the hand than the head. My next hat is going to be a brown raiders. I was going to go with another fed IV, but I wonder if I should go with the Akubra Adventurer, the wider brim may give me better proportions. thoughts anyone?

Nice Scouter Campaign hat Rob = very official & dig that Eagle Scout knot!
I think you can definitely handle more brim. I like that "Clipper" looking Fed4 you have on. Seeing the Raiders in IMAX, the hats never looked better on that large High Def screen! Really like the gray hat on the plane & at the end on the steps.
