Hi,

I'm one of the new guys around here. I replied a few days ago in the "Post New Hats Here" thread with pictures of my semi-new fedora. I just thought I'd join the party over here in the "What Hat Are You Wearing Today?" thread.

Here's a little background on the hat from the other thread:

This is a first post for me. I've been a long-time lurker, and I have to say that this is a great site! Several months ago, I decided to replace the hat I'd worn to Scout camp for years and years with a better one (the old one was from Miller Hats, done in the "Indiana Jones" style). My old hat had seen far better days, and it had even shrunk over the years.

I hopped on our favorite auction site, and lo and behold I found a vintage Royal Stetson Deluxe that, according to the seller, had been reblocked and bashed by Steve Delk of Adventurebilt. I was also told that it was once a Homburg style.

Long story short, it has quickly become one of my prized possessions. I thought I'd just take a moment to share it with all of you.

Cheers!

Nazarin - nice Borsalino.

Eric - I agree with Rusty & BR, the Stratoliner just looks great on you!

Jared - May the Fourth be with you!! (I've been wanting to say that to someone all day!)

Sammy - the Stetson looks fantastic. There are a lot of examples of homburgs being converted to really nice fedoras in the threads on the lounge. Do you think yours was really converted by Steve Delk? I have one of his hats and his work is first class!

DJH,

I really have no way of knowing for sure if the hat was converted by Steve Delk. There was no certificate included with the hat, and I only have the seller's description of the item. That said, it's still a great hat to say the least, not to mention a lot cheaper than one of the brand new hats sold by Adventurebilt. I'm a happy camper!

Glad to have another Arkansan here Sammy!!!
Great hat.
Duck is from the NW part of the state and I am in the NE part.
Spats is around Little Rock. Thats just a few from the Natural state that I know of here at the Lounge.

It's great to know that there are other Arkansans around here!

I'm also in the Northwest part of the state, but I grew up way down south near the Louisiana border. We have oppressively hot and sunny summers down there (and I guess throughout the state), so it's important to have a good hat to keep the sun off!

Joe, that's a visually arresting picture. Nice composition, what with the rectangular echos (vest and bricks) and bright contrast fields (hat, post, railing). Just a great shot all round.

Thanks y'all.

I'll just post a picture of the old house where that was taken if I may. It's on a huge expanse of farmland which was expropriated in about 1975 for an international airport that was never built. This is the area where I'm from and because of the expropriation it hasn't changed in 40 years plus it hadn't changed much in the 50 years before that so I kinda enjoy driving around the side roads there - goes on for miles and practically deserted - kinda takes me back and lots of memories.

YeeHaw Alan, you should be here in Missoula! Unfortunately, spring is not yet progressing much, but buds are out...Your M9 would do very well; I am testing out my brand new Oly OM-D. We start rolling up toward Glacier Natl Park at noon. Internet and cell phone service are very sparse. Over and out.
