HarpPlayerGene, Some great looking lids. I'm especially taken with your detail shots of the hats (Outdoors, shade, wide lens opening for shallow depth of field, resulting in blurred background. It really makes the hat stand out!) :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

You'd think I would've learned that by now[huh] [huh]

Today, I wore this hat. It's my PB Montecristi blocked by the master, Art Fawcett. The weather in IL lately has turned me away from my felts for now, except for maybe the new old Adam in the evening. Art made this hat over into a "new" one that is quite a pleasure to wear.

Thank you, Clay. Art Fawcett gets all the credit for this one. When I received the hat from Panama Bob it had a black ribbon and was blocked to a center dent pinch with a rise and it was too big. Art strippped it down, replaced the sweat and ribbon, raised the crown and shorted the brim and blocked it to a diamond. Like I said, it's really a different hat and so very much nicer than it was before. Tonight when I wore the hat, I picked the hat first and then found a shirt to go with it. Isn't that the way you're supposed to do it?;) ;) lol lol

It's a 300 wpsi hat that I bought from Panama Bob.

Here's a link for you if you aren't familiar with Robert Weber, aka Panama Bob:

http://www.panamas.biz/

You can do a search here on the FL if you'd like to see more of his hats. I and many others here recommend him. He's a straight up guy who will sell you the quality you want at a very reasonable price. His concern is for helping the weavers and the people of Ecuador and for saving the art of hat weaving rather than for making huge profits for himself.

This is what the hat looked like when I received it from PB:

There's a world of difference, don't you think? And that was at the hand of Art Fawcett, the magic hatter. :)

Thanks again.

Somethin' told me the Strat would move the needle a little more than the 'cheapie blue (fake?) straw' jobbie there.:)

Indy - I'm looking forward to seeing you in Memphis (bought my tickets!)

J.T. - You always see positive things and find very nice, encouraging ways of telling others. A real gift of a guy to know. It'd be a treat to meet ya' sometime.

BobC - I LOOOOVVVVE that Panama. The height of the crown and the way the brim sweeps up on each side...perfection, man. Thanks for showing us.

Today I finished taking pictures of ALL my hats and will be cataloging/posting them to Photobucket so I can better keep up with participating in this thread. I'll do a "See my collection" link thread one of these days.

I had stopped at 60 and was holding firm when I just had to buy another (seemingly quite old) western Stetson the other day. That 'clunk' you all heard the other night was me falling off the eBay wagon!lol

This was my 10 year old in her favorite champ yesterday. She did not understand why I thought it was humorous that she was wearing those glasses with that hat. I will have to show her the blues Brothers!lol

Well, IC she does have that soul man (soul girl) look about her, but she's way cuter than Jake or Elmo.:eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Just don't let her get hold of half a packet of cigarettes.

Thanks, Bart. Yup -- it's a really beautiful shade of green, with just a hint of blue in it. This daylight shot may give you a better idea:
