Thanks, Dean!

Diego, very nice Panama--looks great! I've done some motorcycle riding in the Dolomites, but that was a number of years ago. Lovely country!

Cheers,
Tom

Today, a bit more conventional

Today's choice was my Dobbs Genuine Shantung Panama.

Looks like I need to work the ribbon back down into place.

The backup hat (there was a chance of rain) was a Lee Blue Label Adventure.

It's a bit bluer gray than the photo shows.

My wife go a laugh out of my coming home and taking photos of myself!

Cheers,
Tom

Tango Yankee, Those two hats are top drawer! (I know someone is going to tag this comment "off topic." But, I can't believe how well you duplicated everything but the hat, in the second picture. The pose, the perspective, even the smile are identical. It almost, but not quite, looks like you used your computer to change hats. Bottom line: You put a lot of work into those two photos of some great hats.)

You have a look that incorporates the hat in a way that doesn't look like you're just sportin' a fedora, more like an intergrated presentation. Terific!

Which baby did you ride on our mountains? I've go an Honda CBR, but a 4-stroke engine isn't very good for mountain rides... I'm currently thinking about changing he CBR with a Guzzi 1200 sport...

Hello, gents. A recent Ebay purchase: brown Stetson with "HEAD-EASE" in pointillist lettering on the inside sweatband.

Today, I went to the Iowa State Fair and wore a straw, "shady brady" style western hat, looks like this one, but is not a true shady brady:

http://www.shushans.com/runawaybridge.jpg

It kept the sun out of my eyes and protected me from sunstroke, that and good homemade lemonade.

It did not protect my knees and legs from giving out. Next time, I rent a scooter or something.

More :eek:fftopic:

I was on my 1988 BMW K75S. Here's a shot of it in the Swiss Alps in '92

Here's a partial shot of it on the border August '95. Hard to see through the viewfinder of a camera when you're wearing a full-face helmet! (No digital cameras in my bag in '95...)

I don't have a lot of photos from that time period scanned in yet. I was down there with a bunch of friends. We had a great time!

I've heard good things about the Guzzi.

Cheers,
Tom

Thanks, J.T., et al!

But... I used a tabletop tripod, set the flash to a lower setting (learned I could do that in that manual!), set the timer, pushed the button to get the range, and then stepped in front of the camera. Changed hats, did it again. And again. :D

Bolthead, you wear both types of hats (wide and stingy brim) well! That Adam Premier is very nice. I had my eye on one a few minutes ago (different, standard bow treatment) but it went a ways beyond what I was going to bid on it.

Dean, at least that photo didn't turn out blurry--I would have expected it to in the lower light.

And even Doran is getting more into hats... good deal!

And here's what I wore over the weekend during a trip to visit family in Virginia: another Dobbs Genuine Shantung Panama. This is a newer one, complete with Dobbs pin I haven't gotten around to removing yet. The photo was taken next to a river that runs by Lebanon, VA, with my wife, Rhonda.

This is my last photo of me with a beard. I shaved it off after getting back this evening. I'd had a few people suggest I shave it during my job search. At first I resisted, but when a career coach suggested I shave it "unless it's a part of who you are" I realized that it wasn't--it's a facial feature. So... off it went. We'll see if it makes a difference, I guess. :D

Cheers,
Tom
