Jeff, David, Ale...thanks for notes and for indulging me on my off-topic diversion. I haven't seen that film, Jeff, but it sounds interesting. David, this is a new image taken within the last week, but I think they chose it for the connection with a previous shot (linked in their copy) taken when solar activity was very low. I actually preferred this variation of the image which is processed a bit more traditionally. Can't argue with the curators, though.

Okay, back to earth and our regularly scheduled program!

Just got home from Ryan's school play dress rehearsal so I am a bit late to offer my congratulations to Alan for the great honor of having that beautiful solar image selected as the NASA Pic O' The Day! :eusa_clap

Oh, and that old Stetson Nutria Quality is positively celestial!

<smile> ... the brim is bigger than saturn's ring, I think.

Thanks Al!

It is... an older one that we've had for a long time. I've always loved them. Have you been to the museum in Queens?

I knew it, you have great taste! We own one of the smaller, round lamps which I bought a while back through MoMA. And yes, I've been to the museum in Queens, it's one of my favorite places: always quiet and full of great sculpture.

Randall, do not sell yourself short. I love the photo you posted today for exactly the reason I started the thread in the first place: I enjoy seeing pictures of great hats worn in places and doing things that I have not had the pleasure to see and experience myself...yet. I always take great pleasure in each contributor's unique perspectives.

So, are we to be delighted by any more images from your little mycological adventure? That is quite the haul. Chantes our some of our favorite shrooms, and your beautiful Stetson No. 1 Quality looks almost organic in the photo.

Allan Stuart lightweight today. I already received a "You look like young Indiana Jones" comment. I responded with "Thanks for the young part" - no disrespect meant from either party.

I really miss mushroom hunting in Indiana, Randall. I used to hunt for grey and yellow morels.

Thanks for the kind words, gents! :)

Lefty, I never sell them. I dry most, eat some, and give some away.

Mike, morels are my holy grail 'shroom, but I rarely find any. Next spring I plan to broaden my search.

Egghead, I bet King Boletes are popping up in the hills around Sonoma.

Al Consolation taken. You're most encouraging!

Josh - great shot and fantastic hat.

Wow.. how did I miss that one. Josh, I don't think any of your hats pulls a smile out of you as well as that modified Resistol. I love seeing it.

Thank you very much, David & Alan!! I tried taking that picture with a "gangster" pose. It was my attempt at being artsy. LOL. ;)

Man Josh, I love that hat! I like the 'tighter' pinch, looks great!
Also you favor a young John Grisham in that photo.
By the way...he is an ol' Arkansas boy.

Thanks for the very kind words, Rusty!! I've never noticed before, but there is most definitely some similarities between young John Grisham and I. I've never been to Arkansas, but I've always to go. I especially want to visit Hot Springs for a nice relaxing bath.

I tell ya, I've gotten more positive response about this Resistol than any other one of my hats. I was thinking about making a couple in different sizes and colors. I figured a couple loungers would probably like them. I just gotta find a couple more Stagecoaches. It would be fun!

Silhouette morning watching the birds of prey.

This morning I spent time watching local hawks pester the neighborhood owl. I do not know if they were just teasing, a territory issue or prey jealousy. Their calls and splendor made for an enjoyable watch.

My hat of choice is my new Vintage Silhouette. Dog walk, splitting some wood, and bird watching was the hat's first morning chores. Welcome hat to my world!

Enjoying my morning. Hatted in comfort, Eric -

It's great to see you looking so proud to wear that new VS, Eric. The comfort issue, or less awareness of it on your head, is precisely one of my favorite qualities of my Falcon Park as well.
Perry-- That green's not so bright from this end-- looks very sharp/sophisticated to me!
Very nice ones today, David and Mike! nice colors on both the Borso and the Allan Stuart.

Went with my Black Brooks Beaver today.

The dimensions are almost identical to my Falcon Park, at a creased crown height of about 4 3/4" and 2 1/4" brim.

Wearing the brown Stetson 3x today. I've got fancier hats, but I love this one as much as any other hat I own. It has really soft pliable light felt, and keeps a really excellent teardrop crease through wind, rain and sleet. Today I'm wearing it with blue jeans, a burgundy pendelton, brown duck jacket and beige suede oxfords. It's a casual look that goes well with this hat.
