After all the graduation fun yesterday, today was another family day out. Each year, our local Rotary Club organizes Rotary RibFest, 3 days of live music, fun for kids, drinkies (well it is held in the grounds of the local Anheuser-Busch brewery!) and of course ribs.

It was a beautiful day, not too hot and humid.

The lines at the ribs booths were huge, but there were entertainers to help pass the time. This guy even sporting a straw hat.

This guy was sporting a nice stingy brim hat. Might be wool though.

Caren with our little Grandson, Seth.

I was surprised by how many hats I saw there. Ton's of straws of various types, a bunch of westerns too - both felt and straw. A nice family day out for Father's Day.

OG - nothing beats hanging at a nice outside cafe on a summer day. Great look for it as well.

cC - I like you guys western look. Nice that you are keeping us company in the hat forum!

Caren and I were out in the sunshine in our Panamas today.

Her's - Panama Bob, Mine - Tom-n-Perris. I don't know why, but the ladies always seem to look much better in my hats than I ever do!

Thanks DJH, I haven't done the cow(boy)girl look for many, many years!

I must say my Mr. inspired me to get one again; first one evening a couple of months back we were watching "Deadwood" episodes and then Kurt Russell as Wyatt Earpp in some movie (sorry, I've since forgotten the name of the movie), I casually mentioned to him 'too bad you don't have a cowboy hat'- he literally ran to get his beat up straw cowboy hat out of his closet and modeled it for me- yeehaw;) Then we go to the Fair this week and he springs this dashing Resistol on me...

Wonderful hats all around this weekend, lady and gents! Love that Silverbelly Tumwater, David!

A few images from this past week:

Fishing at the lake by our house with Ryan Monday evening after work. My decade old Tilley T3.

Late supper Friday evening. Stetson Breakers.

A Midsummer Evening's Bliss

The seemingly interminable daylight as the Summer Solstice approached enabled me to take Ryan fishing after a long day of work last Monday. We did not journey to my favorite trout streams of southeastern Minnesota, but sauntered over to the little lake by our house after supper.

The sylvan beauty of the little lake.

Accompanied by Turkey Vultures circling above us...

...and amphibians swimming below us. Common Snapping Turtle.

Damselflies and dragonflies darting to and fro.

Contentment. My decade-old warhorse, Tilley T3.

Northern Pike.

Largemouth Bass. Note fresh wounds sustained from recent attack by a large Northern Pike.

Black Crappie. Ryan's T3 at the top of the picture. All of our piscatorial friends were caught and released back to the lake.

Lone kayak plying the calm water after the gentle winds settled.

My cherished catch-and-release trout net in the waning light.

The past few days in London have been markedly cooler and wetter than the last several weeks; I've been enjoying wearing felt (my much-loved Federation Deluxe in brown) for the first time in a couple of months.
