Great photos, Delectan! The Fine Arts building is an unknown treasure in Chicago, for sure. I've enjoyed many lunch breaks there sitting on a bench off of the vintage elevators, listening to the haunting mixture of cellos being tuned, violins being auditioned and vocal students practicing their scales. The atmosphere vibrates. Stunning!

Yes, +1 on the awesome photos, Al! Yours and Alan's photo talent is inspiring.

Usually the oboes will be used to tune the other instruments, rather than being tuned themselves, as there is no slide or mouthpiece to adjust. Better make a good reed, though! ;)

Alanfgag, this photo is absolutely amazing. It exudes a "timeless" feel, like something you'd find in an old almanac or even a coffee-table book. You're dad's face speaks volumes, and almost tells a story when standing beside the next generation (you).

I'd deem this picture frame-worthy.

This is Dreispitz (Dieter) at Nymphenburg Palace, Munich. I believe he is wearing a vintage Borsalino.

Brando: Thank you for your kind remarks! The Fine Arts Building has a unique vibe, artistic and musical vitality that is just not seen anywhere else.

Jeff: You are much too kind, but I appreciate your generous comments! All Hail the Principle Oboe!

Steve: Thanks for posting these wonderful photos of Dieter! I may be mistaken, but could this lid be the beautiful Cavanagh he has been sporting of late?

ya, well its all relative I guess :) , we only get about a week of "spring" and its straight to summer. I suppose its winter we never get, it basically never gets cooler than spring. My little home weather station is showing 93 degrees, with 52% humidity right now. (4.2 mph wind helps a little)

I'll trade you for some cooler stuff....
