This one is due to arrive mid-week. Black 50x Beaver with Steel ribbon. 5-inch crown, 2.5-inch brim. This will be my 4th Hufvud (3 off the Marketplace, 1 custom), and these are Mikael's pictures.

Really love the look of this hat by Mikael. It really has that vintage look to it. Looking forward to seeing more when you have it in hand.

I'll be sure to post some pics, Joe. I've fallen hard for Mikael's hats. Beyond the vintage look, the comfort took me off-guard. Now some of my other hats feel like I'm wearing a shoe-box on my head.

Nice Wormser catch, Randall.

Are you thinking of moving it on?
Yes, but for this hat I have a certain buyer in mind that I’ve come to know who’s bought 12 of my hats for really, really great profit.
And that’s only if I happen to think it won’t be able to work on my head! :)
If he, or myself, doesn’t want it I’ll certainly keep YOU in mind.

I got a vintage Borsalino Superiore off the bay today. A brown fedora with a roughly 2.5" brim, bound edge. Might need a bit of steam but looks to be in great shape. Probably 50s/60s.

I never had a Borsalino, so I was interested to try one out and see what the hype is about. I would post some pictures, but I dont know how the seller would feel about me using their pictures here without their knowledge.

If they posted pics on Ebay, the pics are pretty much public domain at this point. You will find lots of Bay pics in this and many other forums...and on FB.

Thanks, you are correct about the public domain of course. In that case:

I think you can click to enlarge the images. I liked the somewhat narrow ribbon also. With a bit of dusting and steam I hope It'll look like new. I'll probably turn it into a teardrop. Size 5 seems to be a "PUNTI" size, and is roughly a 57.

Solar Straws Panama hat made for J C Penney's. Notice that on the sweatband that it's shown in the same type of logo used for Marathon hats from around the 1940's period or so. I'm starting to wonder if Solar Straws was actually a made-up in-house brand like Marathon was.

Stetson Number 1 Quality. I'm guessing it's a late 1930's hat. The sweatband looks like a hot mess, but I think the hat has potential, once I get it reshaped to suit me.

I've got a new Sterlowski cap on the way, tracking says it's currently with Customs in New York.

I wanted a warm-weather, cotton, ventilated cap for those brutally hot days (like TODAY!) when my Akubra Cattleman is too much, or there's a good chance of it raining on my Stetson Panama. It's their Elvis style in graphite gray.

I'm looking forward to getting it, I've never owned a number- (vs. S-M-L) sized cap at this level of construction, or one in this classic leather-bill style. (The nicest ones I've got now are a couple of cold-weather B!Wear wool caps I've had for around 20 years... and which have held up great.)

The only summer cap I have now (besides some ballcaps I never wear) is a sub-$20 Botvela I got from Amazon a couple of years ago. It's newsboy-styled but ballcap-constructed, simple cotton with no lining or sweatband. It's actually not bad for a knockaround head cover that doesn't requrire any babying, and it looks good, even though it's far from a "real" newsboy cap.

But I'm really looking forward to kicking it up a notch with the Sterkowski...
