What hat are you waiting for today?

So, now my post actually fits into this category! :)

I ordered a 2-1/2 inch brim Oak-colored Tear Drop. 2-9 days to delivery.
Hey, that was my first Sunbody too! Don't be too surprised if it arrives looking kinda' shapeless like mine did:

Yeah, the Teardrop on the crown was the only part of the shape that was clearly defined; the brim was nearly flat and the side dents on the crown were barely there. Fortunately, after you soak a Sunbody in cold water for a few minutes they're rather easy to shape:

Admittedly not a huge difference, but much more to my liking.

As for my second Sunbody...well, I just ordered it about 30 minutes ago. I think it's basically the same as my first but with a narrower 2" brim:

Although the Sunbodys are a little heavier and have a cloth sweatband, the ability to just dunk 'em in icewater is a really saving grace on a hot day fishing in the Keys. I don't think I can claim that virtue for any of my other hats.
I'm no expert, but I don't think water and most straw hats go together well if the plan is to keep the hats for a while. I do have a few ball caps that could probably withstand a good dunking though. ;)

That was my point, though looking at my posting now I realize that perhaps I wasn't being clear enough: I was referring only to the regular Guatemalan straw used by Sunbody.

What a wonderful hat. Looks like you have yourself a pinnacle piece for sure. Congratulations! Reminds me a bit of the Borsalino Ludoita arrived here last week. Stefan did a fantastic comparison expose.

and the topper looks extra cool... enjoy them and as you said get them some sunshine.

The one hat missing in my collection. I don't need a 100 anything... but I do feel a need for a 7XCB.

I have a memory of reading somewhere that SunBody actually recommends the occasional dunking to help prevent the palm from becoming too brittle.

I passed on one a couple years ago that had a few problems... small issues, really. Now I wish I would have picked it up.
YES.....been there too!!!!! The regrets of what we do not buy when it presents itself......there are a few things that STILL haunt me........
BUT the right one will come around!!! I just proved that!
The only downer is this new hat and I are about the same age......and it looks to be in a LOT better condition than I am.....:rolleyes:;)

Yes Sir, it's on their website on the "Shape Your Hat" page: "Extreme dryness will make your hat brittle. In dry weather an occasional dousing will keep your hat fresher and make it last longer." I don't think too many straw hat manufacturers can make that claim. Also, on hot days a wet Sunbody hat will help to cool the wearer at least a little.

Thanks for doing the legwork. I could have looked it up myself I suppose, but I was in the midst of my lunchtime FL blitz.
