this is heading my way from a collector that I have befriended in the last few months

I've only seen this liner on 3 hats in all my years of searching ... I now own two of them .... @alanfgag owns the other

I spotted this one Wed AM and asked a few questions , and jumped . Supposed to be a 5X Resistol but we'll see when it gets here

Certainly looks to be marked that way on the sweat. Not sure I've seen the logo on the sweat in quite that format. Appears to be older with the shape of the 'O'. What does the liner say? "Something"-Felts? A house brand?

Good get Michael!

Glad to see you got that one Michael! Looks like a nice one. I am thinking mid fifties. The diamond shaped O in Resistol, on the sweat is older than my red liner Resistols. The "Rawhide Felt" liner is something I haven't seen before. Very interesting, congratulations!

Thanks for the good words all.

I wanted to do something different in my ribbon work, just a subtle difference.

I got this idea, from a study I did, on a 1930s Dobbs that I sold to Bowen.

I liked the unique ribbon anchor, and applied it here.

The seller didn’t know anything about this hat other than the size. For all I know it might even be wool. The photos were also low resolution but the price was very low so I took a chance. I’m hoping that the bound brim is indicative of it at least being some sort of fur felt. Should be here early next week.

This was a complete shot in the dark but for $10.50 I’ll spin the wheel.

Started this one earlier today. Pouncing is half done now. Should have the sweat band and liner in by Saturday if not tomorrow. Hat band is still undecided. 100% beaver blank in "natural" from Winchester. Finished it will be a 5.5" crown and a 5.15" unbound brim. Shouldn't be a long wait :)

So I just bought a huge hat and I’m hoping I can work a trade with someone who has a small 7 5/8 or 7 3/4. I’ll list it in the classifieds when it arrives. I don’t normally buy hats just to flip them but I just had to have this hat even if it is mine for just a few days.

HUGE green Borsalino in Size 8(64)!!!! Appears to be unworn but the ribbon is a little wonky:
