Commissioned a GT40 tribute fedora today from The Brass Rooster. The hood is from their Vintage 125 line (felt made in the early 1950's). The hood is about as close to Gulf Oil blue a you can get. The Vintage ribbon a good match for the orange. The lines will be race inspired and there will be additional cues here and there that tie into the overall theme. I of the "Oh Shit Green Hat" was happy and not shy at all to participate. Turns out John's favorite car is the GT40, so he is charged up. Not sure on timeline, no need for a rush on it. The Vintage 125 felt needs careful treatment.

I just put a new Dobbs fedora on layaway yesterday at a local hat shop. Will probably pick it up next week. It's my very first new fedora. All my others have been vintage.

I'm waiting on an Akubra Banjo Paterson. The exchange rate finally got me to pull the trigger. I'm hoping I sized it right. I ordered a 58 which is what I measure, but I'm a little worried that I should've gone with a 59 and some felt padding. I'll know next week...

Purchased a 60cm and feels a bit snug even with hair short. The quality and comfort of the sweat makes up for all that. Njoy it!!

Stopped in to Peters Brothers yesterday to see what they could do for me. I balked on a felt due to the wait (fall), but ordered a hemp Strat clone after talking with Shane.

6" open, with teardrop should be ~4.75" or so. 2 5/8 brim. Black with a tealish ribbon.

Shane was good to deal with. Unfortunately, he was unable to give me the Fall FL special price, but he cut me a break on the brim binding.
