I returned The Ken Grey to JJ Hat Center. Personally, I don't know why the hat is considered higher quality. The felt was flimsier than I would have liked, something that I don't think would have lasted. I know people on this forum have rated the quality of modern Stetsons low, but The Ken's quality compared to the Stetson Saxon is night and day. The Saxon is extremely durable, and holds it's shape perfectly (no bumps in the uniformity in the center crease). It has even survived being worn in the rain on a few occasions, with no color bleeding or warping. It seems to hold up just as good as my Akubra hats. Therefore, I've just ordered a Saxon Caribou from DelMonico Hatter.

French, Gelot. I really like hat's proportions but can't say the same for it's sweat band, kinda' bland. This'll be my first French hat and I don't know anything yet about Gelot but did read they closed up shop in the early 70s. These are seller's pics btw. Off to TFL French Hat thread!

Curious about that one. Gelot was a high end retailer in Paris. Oddly enough the hats I've seen from them are somewhat "meh". Wonderful felt for sure, but the finishing leaves much to be desired.

Ordered a Bob Dong wabash cap on AliExpress; hopefully will come in over the next month or so.

This will be my first eight panel without a stud or other fixing to keep the body clipped to the peak, which I'm looking forward to. Always nice to have something a bit different.

So this just arrived. The good: it's very nice indeed, as good as any of the Japanese stuff I've handled. The bad: they sent a small (55-56), not the medium (57-58) I ordered. Waiting to hear back about returns / exchange process... Boo. The downsides of ecommerce...

That Beaver Brand must be for export (or they spelled "center" wrong). :D
Interesting. I’ve wanted a Langenberg with Lion hats branding for a while but most I came across had a definite later 60s vibe with short brim and black sweat and I wanted something different. This one looked kinda unique with the light grey sweat. Don’t really have too much idea on age… though The reeding and liner tip make me think at least 50s. The champ coming along with it looked to me late 40s/early 50s so maybe some indication on these three.
