What hat are you waiting for today?

I was thinking one time that most of the Stetson Shady Oak Farms that Carter gave out probably went to people who have their own museums named after them today, & that's where the hats would be.

I am tickled about this one, HJ. Giving out so many, for so many years, one would think they would turn up more often. The only way this one will end up in a museum is when I wear it there. Now to find a Peters Bros. edition.

Don’t tell Zenobia I’ve got his hat.

Thanks, Bob. I’m new to the O’Farrell world; is the Canyon Road address indicative of the older hats?

It's indicative of a more recent hat made by Kevin O'Farrell.

O'Farrell started in 1979 and was in Durango, Colorado for many years before selling out to the Glenn family. I think Kevin then opened up the shop in Santa Fe in 1995 (Canyon Road Hats by Kevin O'Farrell, 725 Canyon Rd). Not sure when it moved down to the Plaza (111 E San Francisco St) -- prior to 2006 anyway. After his passing his son Scott took over the business.

A bit on Kevin O'Farrell:

The "other" O'Farrell company owned by the Glenn family.

Thank you, Bob! Lots of good information there. I had an O’Farrell come my way last year and the quality of that particular hat didn’t impress me and I ended up gifting it. Even from just photos this looks to be a nicer hat than my first.

I just ordered this Panizza as a birthday present to me from my wife. I have to wait until March before I can wear it, but ordered early as it was on sale at half price.
I’m off to Australia with a group of kids next month. I just discovered the souvenir shop we take them to is a stockist of Akubra. My wife may be a little upset when I arrive home with another hat before my birthday one even arrives!

Eventually wives seem to realize that hats are better than harlots.
Or they divorce you.
