If it’s around 7 1/4 to 7 3/8:and doesn’t fit you, give me a holler . . . .
You got it, but if it's a 7 1/4 then I'm in like Flint....it'll be a keeper. My hats tend to range 57 to 59 depending on the maker. When there is no size tag, like this one, and the seller gives me a side to side of 6.5" and a front to back of 8" (like this one is) they usually fit me pretty well. I'm really interested in seeing this one. It supposedly has a 2 3/4 brim and a 5" crown.

Mixed number? 7 1/8 rather than just 1/8?

Exactly. The whole number and the fraction on the keyhole shaped tag appeared in the late 1950s and were only in use a few years. Some of the non-US made hats used the keyhole tags longer and the normal dating rules don’t always apply to Stetsons made in places other than the US.

And that just about exhausts my vintage Stetson knowledge. :)

Mine made it to Florida via DHL. It's going to their shipping team in Georgia. Anyone know what they mean by shipping team? Pack mule, USPS, bus?

It's a black OR, but who knows where the size will land. When first listed (and when I tossed out a bid as I knew I would be away at the end) the seller noted "The inside of the hair measures 8.5" x 7.5"". I knew this was not likely (and that I should have measured the inside of my hair), but it could be a larger size. At some point they added "and it's 22" in circumference on the inside" to the listing -- so who knows where this will end up. My "hat trade" pile might just increase by one hat.

Found a really sweet deal on a vintage 60's Stevens panama from south america. Love the retro feel. Hope it fits as good as it looks. ;)
Yup, it's beautiful. But, crap....too small. fits more like a 7 or a 7 1/8. Will post to the classifieds when I get the time. Or you can PM me, I paid 125. so whatever shipping is add that. I don't have the heart to try and stretch this vintage hat to fit my 7 1/4 head.

I was waiting for a Failsworth Alfie, an eight-panel cap in Irish linen. I chose the teal colour, which is a sort of bluey-green (more one than the other depending on lighting). Just when I was about to post this, it arrived - very pleased. It's the same as this one:

Givne my druthers, I like 'em a little wider than this, more 30s, but this cut is still a very acceptable 40s/50s style, and I like it very much. At this tiem of year when fur and wool are generally too much, it's nice to have more variety than just lights and naturals....
