A Thomas Cook “Dusty”. Don’t know much about it. I liked the color, shape, and it was my size, plus it’s all rabbit fur felt, so I snagged it off of Ebay.

Anyone know about rabbit felt Thomas Cook hats?

It's not vintage so I probably won't do a full post up. With all the frequent Akubra flame wars I decided as one of my New Years resolutions I would no longer post or reply on Akubra hats. Since then I have let my resolution carry over to major post ups of my other hats & pics as well. But I'll probably use it as a prop in other pics. Vintage hats rule!

Its a 7 and I'm a 1/8. Stretches fine but drys back to a 7. Frustrating. Will keep at it.

You might want to store it, with a band block inside the sweat, after you stretch it. It may help it hold size. These are very reasonably priced, through Mark, at Hatterssupply, they are CNC milled and have the proper 5 degree taper, needed of a sizing band block. Give me a shout, if you need contact information.

Thanks. Have a stretcher but can't find it. Waiting for a new one. Great hat, can't wait to get it fitted. Will get some pics up as soon as I can get tapatalk to load on this stupid machine.

I'm waiting for a Stetson Royal Deluxe Open Road from One 2 Mini Ranch. Why does one week seem so long when you are waiting excitedly for a new lid?! :D

(One 2 Mini shipped expeditiously- I'm just impatient for the OR!)
I'm not in the habit of quoting myself, but as I'm waiting for my Royal Deluxe Open Road to arrive tomorrow, I had the occasion to actually handle and try one on today. My nearest hat store/hatter is 3 hours away but I had other business in that area, includng needing some work on one of my 6X westerns. While there, I saw a Royal Deluxe OR and got even more excited for mine- it is a very handsome hat.

I will wear it both brim up and brim down. I noticed that it (at least the model I handled today) is seemingly more oriented for brim up wear. Is it just a matter of steaming and shaping it to get it to snap down, or is this particular hat better shaped through wear? It did snap(ish) down, but less so than a more traditional fedora.

I read some other helpful threads on the OR, including those that discuss it's relative stiffness, but I think those were more referring to the crown than the brim.
