So did I! I was just finally able to get activated and posting yesterday, and when I saw it disappeared after my first post, I thought the powers-that-be decided they didn't like me! lol

I wasn't too concerned, as I remember the "bad time" from a year or so ago, and how we managed to pull through in more or less decent shape.
One thing I would suggest is to put the "Announcements" at the top of the search results page for "New Posts". I think a lot of people, myself included, automatically start right there, and never look at individual forums specifically.

Or just add something like "We're redecorating/moving some furniture at the moment so please come back later" instead of just "Closed..." for those who missed the announcement? (Meaning, I am one of them )

P.S. Glad to see the Lounge back in business. I was wondering if it was a server move or a repeat of that Great Crash of '08....

Server moves ain't easy. If you got by with a little DNS glitch, ya done good .

My PC with FireFox would not let me in last night, said it was close.

I don't/won't have IE on my computer.


I too did not notice the announcement but then again I don't look fr them either.

Last nights downtime left me lost. I had to download a movie that I had never seen and watch it.

It's listed in the "Announcements" at the top of every forum page. I mentioned it there yesterday.

Ah, that would be why I missed it. The Announcement section is rather static-I've never noticed anything there other then MK's "view new posts" announcement. As a result I simply don't "see" that part any more and skip right over it when going down to the new stuff. It's kind of like how you stop noticing anything that sits there long enough without moving.

The server migration happened rather quickly. We will try and be more mindful of making sure everyone knows what's up if we do this again.

We believed that a forum-wide announcement, plus a note on the Facebook group page, would cover us. Now we know more about general habits! (Which mirror mine "New Posts" is an immediate hit for me. I probably would have missed the announcement also.)

At any rate, pardon our dust as we pack up all these bottles and move them to a new, bigger joint.

FWIW, after the site went down, 24 or so hours later I was able to get back on the site for about 15 minutes. Then it went back down, and I got the "website down for maintenance" screen again for several DAYS. I was not able to get back on until today, SATURDAY night, April 23rd.

All of this from the same computer.
