It's German and below the suit it says:

Supplement to the trade publication "The Tailor", Hannover
The elegant clothing
1933

It appears to be the front cover of this supplement and indeed is a beautiful suit.

Allbest,

Jens

That is one nice suit! I can see it in a deep chocolate brown pinstripe (but I've been on sort of a kick, lately [huh] ), but that check/windowpane is awful nice, too. I've never seen that kind of closure on a jacket, before. It seems to be (and I'm just guessing) two buttons linked together and fed through two button holes. Does anyone else see that?

Indeed, that is what it appears to be. I agree that it's a beautiful suit.

Edit: Here is a similar treatment by the late master Hideki Okisaka. Since he specilized in the 1930s' style and that print is from 1933, I wonder if this was a short-lived fad from that era?

I picked up a similar SB Peaked lapel up....

Will dig around for pics tonight. As I got it near Berkeley University, I'm calling it my BERKELEY. (Thanks to JE for spotting it!;) ).

***Note the double keyhole configuration on the button holes (as per the original pic above) ***

Thanks for the translation to English, Jens. "The elegant clothing" indeed! I think that suit represents the pinnacle of Golden Era menswear, what a dashing cut and style!

Paddy, as always sir, you look as debonair as a matinee idol. The ties as well as the suit are outstanding!

That is a great looking suit. I have a morning coat that has a similar button, but I've never seen that on a "lounge suit" before, that's for sure.

That's what it reminds me of too. Slim's suggestion that it was a passing fashion thing to adopt it on a lounge suit makes sense to me. I'm sure though someone on here must know one ay or another. It being a European suit, I'm sure Baron Kurtz would have a fair idea.
