Hello,

I found something odd after just more closely examining my Homburg, Hat box..... It has writing on the side that says: St. Regis 7 1/4 Car. Box

I it written in marker and the guy who sold it to me said when he picked up the hat one day it had that written on it... But the inside of my Homburg's leather sweat band dosen't say St. Regis so I am wondering what are your opinions? Here are some pictures of the REALLY old hat box.

The box isn't all that old. It's the standard box Stetson apparently used in the 1940s-early 50s. Very common in antique and junk stores, at least in the midwest.

St Regis was the standard Stetson designation/name for their Royal Deluxe homburgs.

It says Caribou, not car box. The colour of the hat.

That box likely dates to the 60's -- Snyder's Stetson Hats book shows a photo from 1965 with stacks of these boxes. I think that, at the earliest, these particular boxes probably date from the late 50's on...:)

Cheers,

Well I guess I'll show you the rest of the box to show you how old it really is ;) Out of Curiosity and not very good understanding would I be able to call it a St. Regis? I guess I was wrong; Caribou, Arn't I smart :p
