My result was Midland. The truth is that I have an Irish brogue. I usually try to hide it though because I get very tired of the "Where are you from?" question. You can tell though if you listen carefully on a good day though. Most days its impossible to hide. Depends on what kind of mood I'm in, how tired I am, or how much I've had to drink.

Well, I do call carbonated soft drinks "pop"; a soda is something you eat with ice cream!

But I dunno about this quiz; I actually think I sound a lot like the Central Appalachian hillbilly that I am:eusa_clap , though once a lady from Buffalo, NY, did suggest that I sound a little like I'm from Ohio (that was when I was listening to a lot of Cincinnati Reds games on WLW).

Where I reside, 'pull' and 'pool', 'fill' and 'feel' sound the same, we don't have dogs or hogs, we have 'dawgs' and 'hawgs', so frankly, my dear Scarlet, I think the quiz is a little off! I'm also a bit of an accent chameleon. From the time I was little, I would unconsciously mimic the accent and speech patterns of anyone I was talking to. A handy skill when it comes to learning a foreign language. I have near native proficiency in German, soooo .... unt I haff a vonderfull B-moofie Tscherman accent, too, veneffer I vant!

"North Central" is what professional linguists call the Minnesota accent. If you saw "Fargo" you probably didn't think the characters sounded very out of the ordinary. Outsiders probably mistake you for a Canadian a lot.

It's funny- I lived in Central New Jersey for most of my life. When I moved Upstate NY, people were surprised to find that out. Apparently they all expected me to have what they think is the "Joyzee" accent, which is, in fact, a Staten Island accent. I guess people identify an entire area with the most prominent accent from that area. I was surprised to come up Philly, though...

Apparently I have a "Midland" accent. Few thousand miles off, but it told me I have a good voice for tv and radio so I don't mind. Fun test.

Yeah, me too. It's obviously not a scientific analysis, just something for fun. I was born, reared and spent all my adult life in Western Washington. But I do say "Washington", not "Warshington" like my Dad did. (His was a country boy accent). He also said "deeshes" instead of "dishes". So he was always telling us to "warsh the deeshes".

Not sure if this counts, but having been to the states twice, I have to say, I love the proper Brooklyn accent, the Boston accent, and strangely the southern twang of Virginia.

I suppose its more of a dialect but I work daily at not letting my children take on this awful sound lots of people here in Pittsburgh have. My friends from Philly all have a unique sound too. Like the guy I caught peeing on my gargage in the city who started to freak when I blasted him with my WATER hose which he called Warder Hose.
