I'm a language arts (and sometimes social studies) content writer/editor for a company that make an online educational program for students. Great place to work and fun work to do!

I am a Hospice Nurse. RN/Case Manager. I have been working in hospice for about 2 1/2 years now. I have both home care and facility patients in my case load. I love it.

I own a company that does archaeological investigations before big construction projects. I get to run around in the woods with my equally hare-brained employees and dig up artifacts. The rest of the time I'm sitting at a computer trying to figure out what they mean. I also get to have arguments with state agency bureaucrats if anyone thinks this is all fun and good times. I do not wear a fedora while working in the field. That's for Indiana Jones.

I'm a kiln operator for a lumber company. I dry the lumber (it sounds easy, but there's a science to it). I also do the maintenance on the kilns, I'm in charge of the dried lumber receiving, and various other odd jobs around the lumber yard.

So, one fine sunny saturday morning I get a knock on the door. I put on my dressing gown and open the door. Standing there are two fella's in suits, flashing badges. Special Agent Something and his pal, Orother, ask me if I'm me.

"Yes, sir. Thats me."
"Sir, we have a couple of questions for you. Is now convenient?"
"Now is fine, how can I help you?"
"Sir, would you mind explaining what your occupation is? We had a call from the IRS about your return."
"Ahh, yes. Absolutely, my pleasure. I am a professional contract killer."

You could almost see the beads of sweat start to pop on thier foreheads. Now, I'm sure that when they knocked on the door they were expecting some beefy guy named Jimmy "The Knife" Bargulioiani, or some such. Instead, they are staring at a tall, clean cut, all American serviceman.

"You see, sir, I am extremely professional at what I do, I signed a contract with the US Navy, and I kill people for a living. I run, jump, flop in the mud, all in the name of putting steel on target. These days I specialise in putting Tomahawks in peoples windows but the effect is the same; bad guys end up dead. Does that answer your question, sir?"
"Ahh, erm, uhh, hmm....well, yeah, guess it does. Now, listen pal-"
"Thats Chief, if you don't mind."
"Right, Chief, uh, I understand what you mean and your right; you do kill people for a living but, if its all the same to you, would you mind not doing that again on your tax return next year? It gets some of the guys down at the Bureau all worked up, if you know what I mean..."
"No worries, sir, sorry to have been a bother."
"Thanks, and you have a nice day Chief."

I closed the door as they walked back to thier big government cruiser. As I turned around, I heard my wife behind me;
"You put down WHAT on our tax return??!!"
"Honey, baby, really, let me explain...it's okay...."

I retired from that a few short years ago. Now days, I teach US, NATO and Allied forces how to do it. Specifically, I teach them how to do intelligence; how to actually think. Our job is not to judge the bad guys, that is between them and the god of thier choice. Our job is just to arrange the meeting.

VERRY HAPPY TO SAY I'M retired, I was a Meat Cutter in several
large Grocery Stores for over 35 years. love Prime Rib Roast & Rib Eye Steaks.
Now i do Custom Leather Work , saddle & tack repair.and some Hat Bands
for "Buckaroo Hatters".

I'm unemployed and will soon be going to school! Hopefully I'll have a job here soon. Job market is not looking good though.

Previously I worked as a conductor on the railroad, prior to that I was an apprentice plumber, and before that...

I am retired. Software Engineering project manager until I got laid off in 2003 and never looked back. Did some Contract work until 2005 and then formally retired. Worked as a general contractor until early this year when work died off. Now my hobbies are Web Design, Oil Paintings, Donate time to the National Lancers, collect militaria do work around the house. There just aren't enough hours in the day to sit back and relax. Retirement is a lot better than I thought it would ever be!
