What do you do for Living?

My career started by, what seems to be, accident. I was at the Navy recruiters office and he asked me what I wanted to do so I figured living near Silicon Valley it was obvious, "Computers and electronics." I answered. I ended up working on radars for the F4 Phantom fighter jet and after getting out of the Navy I ended up working in the commercial airline industry.
I'm now what they call a Continuous Improvement Specialist for the airline. Sorry for making a short story long.

I'm just not exactly sure. It seems that a life coach trains people to be successful athletes in the game of life, or something like that.

Well...I'm not sure I know the precise definition, but I like to think I do some life coaching. I often tell defense lawyers that I want to make a long-term difference in their client's lives.

I play both the Double bass, and a fretless bass.
I have to say that I am very much inspired by my country companion; Niels Henning Ørsted Pedersen, and Ray Brown. Also Welsh bassist; Pino Palladino is a big inspiration

Hello! Hope you are getting better, as Daniel is doing better now.

Life Coach is perhaps needed by some, but for us "older people" we already went down that road for the most part, but we called it the "school of hard knocks"....lol!

I have worked in a few fields as an adult. The longest vocation/career has been working in the insurance industry. I review claims for what is called, "subro"...what that means if a claim had been filed and paid, and there is any chance at all for the insurance company to have a third party be held liable, then the insurance company goes after their loss by pursuing redress from that third party. I currently have been doing this job for a private firm that hires out to review almost all of the major insurance companies in the United States.

After meeting my Husband, I also worked for him in his businesses, one of which is a manufacturing shop and his commercial builders company. Both of these are now down to minimal if at all operating due to his health issues.

And lastly, I am a devoted Wife, recently learned how to clean, steam, hat jack, iron, "bash" Fedora hats and a novice in shoe reconditioning and restoring, for my Husband until he is up and about enough to do all those things (and many other daily chores and needs) for himself again.

That's awesome. I had the pleasure of shaking Ray Browns, steel like, hand when I saw him with Shirley Horn at Yoshi's in Oakland.

I'm new to the Lounge, so I suppose that this is as good a place as any to introduce myself.

I'm an attorney who spent over three decades as an Assistant Public Defender in Cook County, Illinois (Chicago and the 'burbs). It was a great run: defending the accused on every type of criminal charge from disorderly conduct to First Degree Murder. Last thing I expected to do in law school, but I was hired by a man who in less than three minutes inspired me for the rest of my life. It was a very satisfying career.

I now freelance: a case here and there, spending most of my net on travel and new clothes.

I may have already posted to this thread, but I now have a new part time job that I hope may be the very last job of my working life. I have been in the IT field for the past 30 years, and even though I am working at a help desk on night shift, I just accepted a part time job with the Post Office delivering mail. I figure that once I can start collecting Social Security (in July), I can supplement that money with the Post Office job. I am working for a very small post office in the Shenandoah Valley of VA, so I look at my route as a drive in the country and the PO provides my vehicle, gas for the truck and actually pays me. I just have to interrupt my country drive about 500 times to put mail into mail boxes. All in all, it is a great job, as long as I can get enough sleep between my night and day jobs.

Career wise I am a Registered Nurse and wish that it had been my first career.
